Whoever compared Dez to Nicks is a genius in my book. I love Dez as much as the next guy. But look at him, he's not the same.

He got paid and is coming off injury. He's not mentally hungry anymore, I guarantee you our staff has forseen this hence the delay in signing him to a huge deal.

He's lost his dezness.

I wouldn'tbe surprised if Dez gets 15 targets this week. The reason? Jerry and the media. JG always does what he and the media tell him the following week. Watch and see. Remember years ago when the fans were screaming run the ball? What happened the next week? We over ran it!

Dez looked fantastic in the preseason. Are we forgetting that?

Dez had 5 targets from a rookie receiver who had some accuracy issues. Should he have come down with the TD? Sure. But the reason Dez is always involved in these did he or didn't he catch the ball situations is because he's being thrown low probability throws all the time. The fact that he comes down with a lot of them and the other ones are close is a testament to his ability. Not a knock.

Brandon Marshall doesn't 'get open' anymore than Dez does. But he's routinely targeted in the intermediate to shallow deep part of the field and is contantly moving the chains and causing problems for the other team. Dez is a better player than Marshall. This team needs ot act like it.

Now i'm all for taking what a defense gives me. That isn't a passive thing. That is actively exploiting a teammates weakness. Beasely and Witten need to make plays to keep the other team honest. Dez needs to continue to make the impossible seem probable. Dak needs to feed his WR more. The coaches need to get Dez involved early. Zeke needs to be better. The line needs to be better.

Given everything that happened Sunday....this fixation on Dez...is weird and counter-intuitive.

Well put and I agree with nearly everything.

After our loss last week there was a lot of shade thrown at Dez. Including by me saying that he needs to take it up a notch, and when he's the best player on the field, he needs to play like it. We've discussed Garrett's inability to scheme him open, we've discussed Dez being taken out of games too frequently, and even discussed Dez not being the same receiver as before his injury, and possibly even turning into the next Hakeem Nicks.

Let's stop it. Right now. The dude has the competitive fire of Michael Irvin, the physical leaping ability and ability to high point a second to no receiver in the league, and a solid offense around him.

We need him to come up big this year, and he will. Week 1 will hands down be his worst game of the year, and I don't think we see another game this year where he has less than 4 catches.

He will come to play, and lead this offense this year. He's our best player, and will play like it.
No let's stop it when he makes the catches and not until then.

Ok people need to get a grip. Dez would have had a monster game with #9 playing.

Dez in the slot, Runs a double move, the corner bites dez is wide open and it would have been six. instead Dak goes to Williams for the incompletion. And I know people are going to say he didn't have time from this image. he had equal time to throw to Williams as he did dez. He pumped dez and then totally looked away. If he stays with him and throws it we take back the lead late.

Here again, Dez in the SLOT, Has his man beat. this is open for dez, Williams next to him is running a curl. This should be thrown to dez with all that space in the endzone. It should be TD. The ball goes elsewhere for an incompletion.

Once again, dez has a good matchup, the play is called to move the pocket and throw it to Beasley, but Dez is wide open and would have been in a foot race to the endzone. Considering how hard he is to tackle give him the damn ball.

again, Dez in the SLOT. With off coverage. He wins to the inside this is a TD if thrown on time. Dez is open and so is dunbar. Dak goes to a double covered witten for a difficult catch witten makes.

I saw another post somewhere on here today about how Williams just stands around. Well here is Butler and Elliot doing the same.

Dez was hurt last year and only played about a game and a half with Romo who, coincidentally, is the only QB thats played since the start of last year who actually looks to throw the ball more than 8 yards. He's a WR who is forced to run long developing routes, down the field with QBs who are looking for safe, quick, short passes or check downs.

I was skeptical of Dez's performance at first, but when I watched the All-22 he looked really good. The one 'drop' might be a little disconcerting, but he beat his man...the ball was late and not thrown well. And I think it's a tough catch anyway because the corner was able to get his hand on the ball, Dez was twisting and more or less got slammed to the ground and the ball jarred loose. Just a tough catch.

But, he got open on more than a few occasions.

My issue with the gameplan wasn't so much that *Dez* wasn't working out on the go routes...it was Dak hasn't developed the anticipation at this point to hit Dez on plays he had quality separation. And instead of altering the gameplan for Dak, we just decided to move our star WR as far as we could from our 4th round rookie QB. Just didn't make sense.

I'm not sure how many times we have to see that these WRs are getting open down field before it finally sinks in. The QBs just aren't getting them the ball.

There's a few troubling things I've noticed with Dez, one of them is you seldom ever see him make plays against some of the better/elite corners in the league anymore. He's being contained by average corners nowadays. Opponents are defending him the same way they always have but earlier in his career he still found ways to make plays and be productive. If you go back to opening day of the 2011 season he had Revis on him when Revis was at his peak. Dez had 3 catches for 71 yards and a TD. He made one play that had Revis looking amazed. No doubt Washington will lock Norman on him Sunday who held Dez to 2 catches for 26 yards last season. Dez needs to go out and make some plays on him if he's going to get back to the level he was.

Phenomenal screenshots. Thanks for posting. I was at the game and tried to keep an eye on him, but I obviously didn't catch this. I did think the crap about not moving Dez around had no merit, as he was in the slot plenty.

You're going to end up dead wrong because even during his best years he had games where ended up with less than 4 catches. He had a career year in 2014 and had 3 games where he ended up with less than 4 catches.

Its impossible to take in what is happening in the stadium live. there is so much going on. I always lock on to players and when I get home and rewatch the game it looks different.

So true. And on top of that, the All22 footage just brings a whole new realm of insight.

Just want to correct a mistake. The second picture with the two circles is the incompletion to dez in the endzone. It was thrown short and inside. Should have been six. I cut a bunch of plays and didn't label them so I confused that one.

Agreed. Dak wasn't able to take advantage of 8 and 9 man fronts and had some issues with accuracy. Such is life with a rookie QB making his debut.

Dez is a polarizing figure, so people when he's not productive, he gets a lot of blame that is often undeserved.

Dez hasn't been fine so far which is why so many threads have been started about him since Sundays opener.
