If you are a team with a super accurate QB, that can place the ball for what he is best at.... high pointing circus catches, you keep him. He will never get college type separation... So I agree... if we are keeping Dak... Then keeping Dez makes no sense financially.
Why can't people admit that accuracy isn't Dak's strong suit?

I think the FO wants Dez back and is hoping the new additions, especially Hurns, will aid his cause in improving his play. Let's hope he's right. Stephen has been talking tough lately, largely to facilitate a comeback for Dez that the Dallas budget can live with. It's simply business, nothing more, folks.

IF we did cut him, I am sure without a doubt that the Rams would pick him up, pay him and then have him wreak havoc again on the NFL with a real QB. Is it really checkmate if we aren't getting better by cutting him, but instead making another team and more than likely and NFC team, better by adding him?
He isnt doing squat in Dallas but chipping away chunks of the salary cap and being a distraction! Who cares if he leaves and performs well with another team! If Dallas doesnt do something about him this year this is going to linger on into next year. I heard he was gonna be cut after the draft that Dallas is just waiting for that post June cut to save as much as possible. It makes sense because they can wait to see how the draft falls before they let him go!

Yep...

It’s the utterly failed throws, not those only in contested coverage, which reveal his inaccuracy issues...
That will need be addressed after this season. It takes this organization an extra year to figure what the fans are telling them.

Wasn't Dez adamant about not taking a pay cut? So what will make him change his mind now? He knows that someone will pay him and especially if the Rams don't get OBJ. Also, if we cut him, aren't we still on the hook for a portion of his salary? I'm not a Dez fan, I mean I think he's a great receiver who just doesn't sync with Dak, but we could've said that about any receiver on this team last season.

My only question: does cutting Dez and freeing up the money make us likely to sign a difference making player? If so, sure, I'm interested. If not, no thanks.

Here's the problem the Dez haters don't care about what releasing him will do or won't do to this team, they just want him gone. Again, it's personal with some posters.

Dez has a lot of power, after Donte Moncrief and Sammy Watkins got those ridiculous contracts.

What you guys don't get is that if Dez goes off and scores 20 TDs I'm going to be happy as hell and high fiving in the stands. That's a win for my team. It's a win for me as a fan.

If Dez gets cut I am going to also be high fiving because I think it's good for my team. Hindsight is 20/20. So I'm not going to lament it one way or the other if we cut him and he goes off.

If Dez takes a salary cut I can probably be ok with it as long as it is significant. That's reasonable team risk. $8 m per year I could stomach that .

It is obvious you put Fan love of Dez over the team. That's your right and I have no right to tell you otherwise. I just don't share that view. But that's what makes the world go around.

If they cut him and he goes off it means that you and the others that think like you were terribly wrong and your knowledge of the game is suspect. It also mean that there were other problems in Dallas other than Dez but he was just a convenient scapegoat. Tou're just trying to cover all the bases but I not letting that happen, you've been hating with such a passion that, at this point, you'd look like a fool rooting for Dez. I've never hated on a player to the depths that you have but if I did then I'd feel hypocritical rooting for him. Hell I'm not a Dak fan but you don't see me railing on him every thread that I can get on.

Dez is a drama queen, always jawing with the other team during the game, outburst on the sidelines...drops easy passes, run's bad routes....

You’re wrong about that. I guarantee you that the Cowboys’ FO does not want to see Dez in a Commanders, Giants or God-forbid Eagles uniform.
When Dez basically quit on the sidelines of the Seattle game, Stephen was done with him to some extent. That's the word around the Dallas media. That, along with constantly being late to meetings and needing a babysitter much of the time to get him through the season.

I think the much bigger issue, however, is his complete lack of chemistry with Dak. The two just don't match up with their skillsets.

I think it would be a mistake to let him go at this point, but I don't think they care that much. If he'll take significantly less money, they want him. If not, I think they won't hesitate to cut him loose. Once the free agent money dries up in a couple of months, he may not have much of a choice.

Of course Dez would have better numbers in GB. They have a pass first offense.

And they have a razor-sharp quarterterback who can throw back-shoulder and high-point balls better than Romo.

Rodgers has much better velocity and accuracy than Dak, and he's not afraid to zip it into tight windows.

Dez would go for 1,200 yards and 13 touchdowns with him.

The walls are about to close in on Dez Bryant.

The Cowboys aren't paying him his current salary next year. He says he won't take a pay cut.

But free agency lingers on. The money is drying up. The draft is around the corner. Rosters are cementing around the league.

Whenever Dallas makes their counter offer, it will exceed what teams have to offer on the open market. It'll be "take it or leave it", and he'll either stay where he's comfortable for a LOT less money, or he'll leave in defiance and take an even lesser prove-it deal elsewhere.

A team out there might be about to get a really good receiver for very cheap. Green Bay? New Orleans? New England? Seattle? Philadelphia?

The biggest thing Dez has going against him right now is that I don't think the Cowboys really care if he's here or not.
it maybe the right move for us. he will provide a short term solution for someone for one year. like the teams you mentioned that feel they are on the verge. I don't think GB but Rams come to mind as well.
