Everybody needs to drop the Dick Lebeau watch, the Dom Capers watch,or any other big name defensive coordinator,as long as Bill Parcells remains here.First of all,he isn't about to bring in some hotshot coordinator to turn it around and take credit away from him like Bellichek did.No really good coordinator would want to come here and not be able to fully run their system without Parcells interfering, and who wants to come here and work for a 1 year lame duck coach, and not really know what your future is.

unfortunately I think others are right...we could have had a proven 3-4 coordinator before now had they wanted, but they chose to do something else

its either in DMN or FWST, but they said teams sources said if Zimmer had left last yr that Bowles was gonna get the DC job...a few weeks ago I think Prisco had some blurb about Parcells wanting Bowles to be the DC

its probably gonna be Bowles if Parcells is back

and who knows...maybe he'll be good...then again

If we signed Lebeau and let him do his thing our defense would be scarry good.

I agree...but as I noted in another thread...there is one Caveat to this idea.

I admit it is VERY far reaching but something that could be considered.

IF it is true that Jerry likes say a Cowher or Lovie, basically someone who would be available next year. But wants to keep Bill on this year instead of getting a one year HC stop gap.

In that case, remember I said this is a stretch, maybe he would hire someone like LeBeau to come in as DC and get things started, get used to the players, get the players used to him and the scheme somewhat...and have that area setup for when Cowher came in the next year.

One last time, I know this is a HUGE stretch. But this is a message board and I am bored right now so there you go.:D

Brain, I was thinking the same thing.....

Smart money would say if you are trying to do this, you should already have gauged the water by talking to Cowher. See if he was interested, prime the pump, etc. If we did get Lebeau it would be a serious telltale though. And even Parcells must realize that he is not long for Cowboys. Better to get someone competant in there even if it does steal a little of your thunder. Maybe....

EXACTLY as I have said. We will NOT hire a hotshot DC. We will promote from within, especially if Parcells is still here.

What's it going to be then, eh?

I question if he would be willing to have an assistant who would take a drastically different approach than he is used to.

It is interesting he is a chum of Bob Knight, but that's not an indication that the two could work together.

I have no hope for the immediate future of this team. As long as Parcells is here we are stuck at a low level of mediocrity and are just spinning our wheels.

I'd love to see Labeau as our DC. Absolutely love it. That's why it will never happen.

I do agree that if Whisenhunt is the Steelers next head guy Labeau will stay.

Yes I found the Bob Knight link sort of interesting.

Sure it is a long shot reach to link Bill and Dick together because of Bob (wow that sounds like an adult movie lol), but it is interesting.

If we are going with farfetched ideas then I have one that goes like this. Jerry tells BP that it is fine if he stays but wants a DC who can take over as head coach once BP retires so there is very little transition.

BP agrees and takes Rex Ryan as DC. BP retires next year and Ryan takes over.

I could play the same scenario with Ron Rivera, but he is a 4-3 guy.

Personally 4-3 or 3-4, I really don't care, but if the quality guys are available this year and not as many next year then we need to get one in here this year.

I hate the Bowles idea.

That would be one of the best hires Jerrah has ever made. If he could get LeBeau here as DC, that would put us over the top, I think.

I'd love to have LeBeau come in and be DC... that would be fantastic...

Rex Ryan or Rivera are not going to come in as our DC because those two are HC candidates as of right now! Saying that, I'd love to see Ryan as HC if BP walks away.

If Parcells stays and promotes from within, I'm going to be completely disgusted... That would be a half assed attempt for BP to save face and have his ego massaged. These coaches we have now are handicapped anyway... Besides, we still need a freakin' offensive coordinator... A non move from last year did this offense no favors!
