Key word in my statement was "if you ask me" I really don't need to argue what I believe...

This is your Frontal Cortex. You actually think that Favre is the Greatest QB ever, but have repressed your memories of his gridiron accomplishments due to your hatred of his acting performance in "There's Something About Mary". Now remember and set yourself free.

I remember ESPN carried Aikman's retirment press conference live but don't remember anythng else. Obviously in Dallas there would be more discussion and maybe some of the local networks had small segment but certainly nothing like what Favre getting. Of course Favre has been round a long time and has put up great stats.

I didn't know we bestowed sainthood on football heroes? ;)

Brett gets the attention because he was accessible and likeable. He was open with his personal life (his wife's fight with cancer, his father's death) and personal demons (addiction to pain killing drugs) and was candid in a way many quarterbacks/athletes are not. He was considered a "good ole boy" and the media likes athletes who are willing to share themselves with them.

Montana was very private and not so warm and welcoming outside of the cameras and off the field from what I understand. Aikman was kind of aloof.

Be that as it may, the two athletes ESPN has fawned over the most are clearly Favre and Jordan. I'm convinced they have separate film rooms for both and just waited longingly for the day they both retired so they could crank up the footage and the tributes.

But I aint mad at 'em.

aikman didnt exactly go out on top like favre, plus i think as time goes on the media is getting worse about spending a month on 1 story. but america loves its heros to go out in there prime or on top

A good season ending in the playoffs due to his horrid play? I dont know if thats on top. IMO GB got lucky alot this year, and they lost games against the good teams they played.

I would have bet money on Idaho.

When there is the United State of Texas then there are just all the rest. Who cares?
