Talking about the cowboys HC and dropped this little nugget in, Norv Turner met with Ron Rivera Friday night at the Bears Hotel. Don't know if it means anything or not.. but it is pretty interesting.

If true, and if it ends up being Norv as HC and Rivera as DC, then I'd be pretty pissed if I was the Bears management.

Why would Rivera make a lateral move? And why would Chicago let him? I don't see him coming here for anything other than HC.

Oh c'mon. If the facts were as I stated, then it would seem pretty clear that Norv was acting as an agent for Jerry. Jerry himself doesn't have to directly contact Rivera. And to be distracting the guy with that stuff before the Super Bowl? Please. They'd have plenty of reason to be upset.

Isn't Ron Turner Norv's brother? Could he have just been there to support his brother and talk to Rivera while there?

Yeah, its hard to play the "I don't know what you are talking about" card when its so clear.

Why? Money, more control of the D, get out of the Lovie shadow and to better position himself for a HC job next year or the year after.

Why would Chicago let him?? They can't stop him if he wants to leave. His contract is UP. He is free to sign with anyone he wants for any position.

1) money...credit...do a good job with our D, he turns into a better HC candidate

2) the Bears cant keep him from making a lateral move...

none of this is news here

then they should have wrapped up the guy with a contract extension before now, and they wouldnt have to worry about it

they can be mad at only themselves

Yea they might be upset, but there would be nothing they could do about it. And to be fair,, the Friday night before the SB, there would be no distraction, the game plan is set, the work is done.. no way would that be a distraction or in any way have any effect on his abilities to perform his job on Sunday.

I dont' think they have a problem letting him go, but sheesh let the guy concentrate on the Super Bowl.

Actually, thinking about interviewing for another team with another set of players and how you want to come up with a plan for the interview that is coming in a couple days would probably be a major distraction.

And if they wanted to do something, they most certainly could. It would be a slam dunk case of tampering.

I don't see a lateral move here improving his chances. In fact it could potentially hurt.

I thought Rivera still has another year remaining??

I don't believe any of the stuff Adam Shefter says. He's all fluffy puff.

All of it is pure speculation. It's always "according to an undentified league source.." or "information points to this may be happening..." Yeah whatever, Adam, just keep making stuff up.

assistants can talk to other assistants, this isn't tampering

Rivera and his players were talking about him getting a head coach gig plenty in the lead up to the SuperBowl. He wasn't doing much to stop the talk. If he allowed himself to be distracted, I don't want him as coach.

You're not following the thread.

someone said something about tampering because they think Norv is acting as a go-between Jerry and Rivera, I just put that thought to rest
