Same here in Idaho. I set the DVR. When I went to watch it, there were the Packers and Vikes. I fast forwarded through it and didn't get the Cowboys game till the 1st quarter was almost over. I might download it and watch it.

That commercial with one second left really had me stewing. Then all the other commercials after the game. I was livid. Nobody in NJ cared.

Well I think I just found out what I was wondering about during the first half, they kept showing everything after punts, kickoffs and injuries, with no commercial breaks. It was because they had already shown the scheduled amount to all you late comers. I was thinking this really is the game of the day the announcers were talking about and they didn't want us to miss any of it. Thanks for letting me know what really was up.

Didnt get the game till the end of the 1st qtr. Saw the last play if the QTR then they went straight to commercial. After that it seemed like there was a commercial after every poseesion during the 1st half!! LOL.

Here in Austin they did not switch to the Cowboys game until after the Packers/Vikings game was over. They(the media) don't like the Cowboys here. They will usually preempt Cowboys pre-season games to show Houston Texans pre-season games at least once every year.

That's odd. I'm in San Antonio, just 80 miles south on I-35, and they showed the whole game, even the shoving match before the kickoff.

I missed it, but not because of the Green Bay Minnesota game.

My wife comes home at 3:30 with firewood. It's cold in Texas....

I'm getting ready to watch the game,,,

She puts some firewood in the fireplace and starts to try and light it. She is born and raised Texan, so she has no idea how long it takes to try and get damp firewood to burn. I already know what I have to do. Get some fire starter logs from the store....

It sad. But I had to make that call. Say, wait until after the game??? No way....do you know how stubborn crazy and unreasonable a Texan woman can be???

So i made that audible......"go ahead, get in car and take care this, pronto!!!!!!" And that's what I did.

Cost me the 1st qrt, But I got to watch the rest of the game in peace....

DVR is your friend.

The first quarter went by really fast because they didn't show ANY commercials until there were eight seconds left in the quarter! I thought it was really odd. I kept waiting for a commercial because my little boy needed daddy to do something and I kept saying "wait for a commercial".

Of course in the second quarter, they ran a commercial break about every two minutes!

we didn't get any of these in austin. missed the whole 1st quarter. and they had the audacity to go to commercials immediately after the GB game ended. fox really screwed us and im surprised there was no explanation for it.

San Antonio is Cowboys country. Huge fanbase there. Behind DFW, that is the second biggest fanbase we have in terms of area of the country.

I missed a good bit of it. They wouldn't switch the channel or even go back and forth. I started cussing. It's a 40 minute drive to the sports bar. I'm not exactly in the middle of nowhere but I can see it from here.

The reason why they largely go commercial free during that situation is that they have to be cleared across the country for the commercials to "count" ratings wise. If they ran the spots with less than full clearance for a national game, then they would be in a makegood situation (where they run spots for free in a similar type of game later in the season).

Thanx for the explanation. I never saw a commercial-free first quarter before. It was kinda nice, except I needed a commercial break, if you know what I mean!

I was in a sports bar with a bazillion TVs and DirecTV (in Alexandria, VA) and they could not get the Cowboys game until The Game That Wouldn't End finally did. I was SO mad. I managed to see like 2 seconds of the 1st quarter on a Red Zone channel

most of it, i finally found it on Sunday Ticket on like channel 713 or whatever, even though just 3 min earlier it was telling me the game was blacked out

I watched it on Game Mix (702) until Green Bay/Minnesota ended.
