Did anyone even imagine that our offense would be THAT good?

I know I didn't. I didn't see where there could be that much improvement. But it was there, folks, and I've got to believe it was Garrett's new passing game.

Let's face it, the Giants might be a bad defense. But we made them look like they had NO talent, and they do have quite a bit. Our running game was the same old same old, but not the passing game, and that was evident right off the bat as Jason Witten made it known that when you talk about the league's elite TEs after this year, you better make room for him alongside Gates.

There haven't been more productive TEs than Gates, Gonzales and Witten over the past three years, but he hasn't gotten the respect the other two have. Why not? Simple answer? TDs. But he's going to get them, and yards this year especially without Glenn in the lineup.

Our pass pro was phenomenal. I mean really. Even when someone did beat their man, Captain Pocket-Presence made them pay for not respecting his mobility.

One danger I noticed? If you (either QB or WR - IMO it's impossible to determine who) screw up in this timing offense, it looks bad, and it could hurt bad, too...if the other team makes you pay. Romo threw a couple passes to nowhere in particular, and I think TO was just running bad (or wrong) routes.

But 45 points, fellas. And it's not like we were getting a short field because our defense was hammering them. We had to earn every bit of that. In a season where the revamped defense was supposed to be the amazing new focus, Jason Garrett stole the damn show. That was impressive.

Garrett did some of the things I was talking about on the about forums (stretching defenses wide and misdirection when you lose deep threats)... I felt smart for a bit there. Even though it didn't work.

I'm not sure that had anything to do with their success, though. I think it had more to do with the Giants losing Osi and their piss-poor LBs and new safety, what's his name being out of position a lot.

Great post and question. Talent wise - yes - I did think we had that. I wasn't positive, because no one was certain with Romo and our OL. But I've been complaining about our offensive scheme for about 2 years now. This offseason I did and continually got 'put in my place' with stats from last season.

But I LOVE the timing based scheme and our formations. This is the Norvacane offense I miss so much, and it fits perfectly with what we have. Thank God for Garrett, good riddance to Chris Palmer/Todd Haley.

After the game I told my buddies "Now I know why Jerry hired Garrett before he hired the Head Coach."

I was glad that Garrett constantly had Romo going for the jugular.

That being said he got too creative for his own good a couple of times. There was one screen pass that took about 4 seconds to setup after all the fake reverses and stuff - looked like some silly Wing - T formation.

Unless we are on defense.

I don't think you can judge our offense against a defense like the giants. Their defense was about as bad as ours.

For the first time since 2000, I don't hold my breath on offense when the camera zooms out because we are passing. That is such a great feeling.

No, I didn't and what really pleased me the most is we did our most damage over the middle, and not just one or two guys. All of our players were willing to go over the middle or up the middle.

It was very encouraging. I thought we got a little conservative in the red zone a couple of times, but we scored and it's hard to gripe about that.

Each time we allowed a score, the offense refused to fold and came right back. I hope that becomes a trend.

I think the D is fixable and the offense can still improve too. Scary huh?

Next time you should try free expression of thought. ;)

I still do, but probably just because I am a nervous person.

I have huge confidence in Tony Romo. But for some reason, the way he plays scares me to death. But he just gets it done. His numbers on third down are outrageous - basically superhuman, unparalleled by any but Peyton.

He does me too - and I still think he is going to have 'what the heck is he thinking days.' But the fact that he has good footwork and can read defenses inspired confidence in me that we haven't had in years. I can look past the Favre-like tendencies with that.

WR17 assured me Campbell would have a better season than Romo this year.

Of course he didn't have the sack to put money on it...Big surprise.

Campbell looked rough, but I give the coaching staff credit. They are working with him to NOT screw up. But he has a long way to go to be where Romo is now.

When we got to 45, I was hoping we'd end up going for it and laying 52 on the Tinies. I guess by the time 1:00 left in the game rolled around, I had gotten massively spoiled by the amazing offensive show the Boys put together...

Maybe WR17 should have a talk with WR89 about holding onto the damn ball.

He was like micro-TO out there against Miami.

Nope sorry. I couldn't get him to put his money where his mouth was, but I have his assurance.

Gotta be worth something right? Think I could buy a donut with it? Or should I see what's under the cushions of the couch?

TO caught every pass thrown to him and scored on two of them today.

Gotta admit, that thrilled me. The diving one was impressive.

I need to go bathe now. I feel dirty complimenting him. :D

So much for the theory that you have to keep Romo in the pocket in order to beat him. I think he basically stayed in the pocket (a side from the TD he scored running in) and basically did what he wanted to do.

The O-Line was great at pass protection, and obviously blitzes don't scare us since we go up against blitzing in practice all week long. Romo was accurate, quick reading, decisive once he and TO and the receivers got on the same page in the 2nd half, he was unstoppable. We could'a pass the ball all day long if we wanted.
