Not necessarily. We have different personnel packages within the same defensive alignment.


Much like we ran the "42" (which was the Nickel with Woodson lined up in the slot) and we also ran a "normal" Nickel defense with Woodson at safety.

I'm used to seeing Davis and Watkins on the field on special teams, but that's by far the most I've seen them on defense.

I'd be more nervous with K. Davis in pass defense than Roy. Seen way too many time K. Davis looking lost and get burned last year to make me feel safe with him in pass defense scheme.

Hard to judge how well we played defensively yesterday, I really liked how physical our guys were up front - but we could've beat those guys with 10 men on the field yesterday the way we were stopping the run.

When we have used the single-safety defense, it has ALWAYS been in running situations. When it's a passing situation, Roy is always on the field.

I think some people think he's out because they didn't give the 2 high safety or quarters look much in this game, so Roy was down in the box on many passing downs.

It seemed to be on passing downs because it was situations where Newman, Henry and Reeves were all on the field.

Whatever we were doing it was working!

I think the defense was just using this game to experiment with some stuff since we were going up against such an inept and anemic offense.

I was just reading the press conference, and Wade confirmed that Roy was not in the package when Jets went 3-wide.

Roy came out and we inserted three CBs with Hamlin in as well.

It got brought up because that's the way the Jets opened the game, and as a result Roy did not, technically, "start" the game which broke some kind of consecutive starts streak for him.

So Roy definitely sat out several passing downs. I kept noticing him trotting off the field whenever the Jets brought in the extra wide out.

phillips said that roy wasnt in there to start the game because of the type of set the jets came out with. so yes he was out.
