Anyone else notice Hanna was our #2 TE? A lot of people here expected him as a camp cut

Taco played 46% of the defensive snaps.
Unfortnately, that 46% got zero stats. No tackles, no assists, no sacks, no hits on the QB, no batted balls, no fumbles caused, no fumbles recovered. And he was not playing against a stud LT. Lets just say, I'm concerned that he is a first rounder headed toward a game day inactive list.

He played a lot of snaps out of position at DT.

I'm not sure, but I did see him on the field once. He was active FOR the game, but not so active IN the game. (bust? there, I said it first. Yes, I know one game doesn't mean much, but a first rounder oughta be playing from the get-go.)

I don't think he's a bust so much as we might actually just have an abundance of talent on the DL that makes it less imperative that he get on the field too early.

The way the defensive line played mostly with Crawford, Lawrence, Collins, and Tapper...we might not need to bring Taco along so quickly.

Put it this way -- Taco is insurance for Lawrence. If Lawrence leaves this year, we'll have, hopefully, a Lawrence 2.0 with more upside ready to play. We're constantly adding talent rather than waiting to have a gaping hole and then scrambling to fill it. Good problem to have if your 1st round pick doesn't get a ton of snaps because the starting unit is performing.

I get the feeling if Tank performs, Jerry and Stephen will franchise tag him like they did Spears

I saw him have one pressure on a nice dip and rip move. He was one step away. and wisely pulled up. He struggled with his technique and reads.

Given how little he played at Michigan and how young he is it makes sense that he is going to be a work in progress as he learns his screws, footwork and handwork.

He would hardly be the first pass rusher that took time to come along. The great Demarcus Ware had like 1 sack through the beginning of November his rookie year. Vic Beasley was considered a bust in 2015.

The good thing is that with DLaw, Collins, Mayowa, Crawford, Paea, Tapper, and Irving we do not need to fast track Taco. Given the investment in him they will give him work to develop. We can afford to be patient.

I know this is a Price thread, not a Taco thread, but the question did come up. Let me clarify my earlier comments. I am NOT saying that Taco is a bust. Only observing that his first game was not great. I think underwhelming would be the phrase I would use. Maybe Flowers has improved and really IS a stud LT. Maybe Taco was just not prepared for the speed and power of a prime time regular season NFL game. He could become a star and eventually a HOFer, but at this point in his career, nobody knows. And, I'm not one of those fans who decides they don't like a player so they root for them to fail. (there are still some on here who think Beasley and Heath should be cut.) I want all the Cowboys players to be great. But, it isn't possible for them all to be great. We have done so well with our first round picks in the last few years that the odds are tilting against us. With all that said, if the level of your play dictates your snap count, Tapper has earned more time, and Taco has earned less. It that trend continues, I'll be seriously concerned.
