"The Panch" sounds just like bbgun.

No... BBgun is a lot smarter.

Panch is a self-proclaimed "realist" who doesn't want to deal in facts. Fact is we give up 90 yards RPG, 4th in the league. But he doesn't care. I'm sure he thinks I'm "hiding behind rankings."

The only hiding being done in this thread is Panch from the truth.

IMO the truth is that our defense is excellent at gameplanning for one thing, but if a team comes out and surprises us, for the most part it puts us back on our heels and we struggle for a half or so.

What is the strength of the Commanders on offense? Running the ball. Well, Portis had 12-36 yards, and Betts was 2-8. This was 4 games ago. We shut down the run but Campbell threw 54 times for 350 yards.

The Jets don't do anything well, so we demolished them because of their incompetence.

Then GB comes in. What was all the talk about before that game? Stopping Favre and the 5 wide sets. And what did Favre do? 5-14 for 56 yards, 0 TDs and 2 picks. A career low QB rating of 8.something. Aaron Rodgers came in and had some success and Ryan Grant had some success, thanks mostly to our safeties banging into each other and letting him run for 65 on one play. But we shut down their biggest threat. If you make NFL teams beat you in ways that they're not used to, odds are you're gonna win more than you lose.

The next week Detroit comes in. What do you think of when you think of Mike Martz? 70%+ of the plays will be passes. They come out and punch us in the mouth with the run, it puts the defense on its heels, and we have pretty much the worst defensive game of the season, save maybe the Pats. But we made adjustments at half, and they scored 7 points, allowing us to come back and steal the win.

There's the truth. That's what Panch doesn't want to talk about. Yet he's the "realist."

The reality is there are concerns with this defense. It seems like they need a little bit better preparation. They need to be able to make in-game adjustments instead of at the half. By the half, it could be to late, especially if the other offense is the Pats for example. But for the most part, they've played above-average.
