I thought he could be dependable if he straightened his life out. However, when Ian Rapoport reported that Gregory just recently spent more than 6 weeks in intensive drug and alcohol rehab (at the same time he reported Gregory was filing on Thursday), it really made me lose all confidence we can count on him.
This habit was supposed to have been kicked, and if he is still struggling to the point he needed more rehab this late in the game, then I doubt we can ever depend on him. Maybe I just don't understand the rehab process, but it is my understand Gregory has been to rehab several times already. I don't doubt people may need several rounds of rehab as relapses happen, but we are led to believe Gregory has been clean since July 2016. It is very puzzling he needed to complete another stint in rehab almost 2 years later while remaining clean for so long. I thought people went to rehab to break the habit/learn to cope with the cravings and then went to meetings/support groups to assist in their long term recovery afterwards.
If he needs rehab just to continue being clean, what's to say he doesn't feel like he needs to go back to rehab 2 weeks into the season (if he gets reinstated)?
I also wonder why he needs 2,000 pages of documentation in support of his application. That number is mind boggling to me. He could have been in rehab every day since his suspension with a daily progress report and daily drug tests and that would account for less than 1,000 pages of supporting documentation. I know that didn't happen but what in the world is he submitting? It just doesn't make sense.
