Guys this could be our next OL coach right here:

Go down to Alex Gibbs

talk about a boost for our OL

Whatever we do, I want a change. I've never seen an Oline so confused by stunts and dogs. If their man isnt directly in front of them, its like they have no idea what to do.

Confused by stunts etc. exactly what some folks said would be the case with Gurode as our Center.

But you pick your poison, Johnson can make the calls, just not the plays to go with them..

Any games in particular where this was a problem that you can think of?

All of them. There is always at least one blown blown assignment. Its just with Romo under center he can make incredible plays to get out of pressure, unlike Bledsoe who was constantly sacked.

Two games that come to mind are the first Philly game, and the first NY game.

Unfortunately I don't see Parcells signing a guy like Gibbs. I don't know his history, but I don't think he's crossed paths with BP in the past, and that probably strikes him off the list completely.

I hope I'm wrong.

Another one comes to mind - I think it was the second Philly game. You couldn't see Flo at the beginning of the play, but once his man came into view, Adams was prostrate, face down on the ground with Trent Cole rushing straight over top of him. One of the more embarassing things I've seen... a 6-foot-7, 340 pound man getting driven into the ground like that.

Something needs to happen, be it a coaching or personnel change. Things ain't right when Romo has so little time to throw. Nothing's changed since Bledsoe except the QB. The pass blocking is exactly the same.

Yep. Philly 2 was pretty bad, IIRC.
I almost posted this Gibbs tidbit when I saw it last night, but thought better of it. I don't like his style of line play, and don't know that it would be a good fit for our personnel. I think it's not a direction Parcells would likely head in, anyway.

There's certainly no arguing with Alex Gibbs' results, though. I bet he ends up in Houston with Kubiak.

Maybe since BP don't like stunts and blitzing, they don't get much practice except mostly against their own vanilla 3-4, played BP's way.

Just a guess, but it't hard to deal with something in a game if you don't go against it every day in practice.

He's more zone blocking, isn't he? I know Atlanta got it done certainly with less size than the Cowboys have. Parcells seems to enjoy stockpiling huge bodies and throwing them in harms way. Problem is, they're rarely talented enough to perform.

With all his blunders on the line, I fear we won't ever see a true offensive line until Parcells leaves.

I'm pretty sure they use zone blocking, like the Broncos.

Gibbs is a zone blocking coach.

Where smaller guys can be utilized. The scheme doesnt really call for samll guys but the players need to be disciplined and have very good feet and hands.

I would back up the truck (full of cash) and sign him. It wont happen of course because it makes too much sense.

Yeah, chop and, err, zone blocking. Al Johnson might be a pretty good player in that scheme, though, come to think of it.

Gurode has probably been our best player all year on the O line. Columbo second, Kosier a close third. Last part of the season untill just recently the Hotel was playing quite well; but that is sort of his pattern his whole career. Maybe why BP wants to get some time in with McQ; take a look and decide if we need to do something drastic.

Gibbs hasnt been a fulltime coach in a couple of seasons now...I think he was the first yr Mora was there, then kinda semi retired and was basically more of a consultant...Tom Cable is actually their OL coach

the guy that was the OL coach in 2005 went to GB last yr (offensive coordinator I think) and is now the HC at Boston College

I don't care if it works -- I don't want us running that dirty, borderline cheap-shotting, cut-blocking scheme anyway.
