Did Tampa just clear us a path to the playoffs?

After letting the Raiders beat them in Week 17 last year, setting up the Eagles for a win and in situation, did the 2009 edition Bucs just give us a playoff clinching path?

By beating the Packers it would appear that any wildcard teams will come from the East and the South and with the Giants reeling it would seem that a worst case for us would be a wildcard.

Of course we would want a home game and winning the division would seal that deal. But if that doesn't happen it appears that 9 wins gets you a wildcard this year and surely we have 4 more wins in us.

This whole topic gets even simpler with a win in Green Bay next week.

Why not? No Dallas team at 5-2 has failed to make the playoffs. We only need 4 more wins in all likelihood to qualify for the playoffs. Surely we can win four more games.

Because there's still almost half of a season left to play, and things can change in an instant.

I can tell you this Green Bay's season is on the brink of serious implosion. I listened to their postgame show last week and they have some srious issues on defense. Cullen jenkins basically did a T.O. calling out Dom Capers for not being agressive enough. Charles Woodson did the same thing. Fans are furious after Brett Favre beat them twice. They could be dangerous, but they are very fragile mentally at the present time.

There was talk of getting a good draft pick and how the Cowboys were losers. What is all this playoff talk?! How many of those guys have stepped up and said they gave up prematurely?

While I would normally love the fact that the Packers lost today, I was definitely pulling for them. Why? Simple. My Suicide/Knockout league was down to myself and one other guy. I took the Pack today and their loss cost me $375.00. Bastids.

After watching TBs D sacking Rodgers 6 times , I think my 9yr old,7 yr old, and 5 month old nephews can sack Rodgers. Next weekend is almost a gimme like the Seattle game. GBs O line is horrible

Mr Master of the Obvious. Of course it's a half season away. Still no Dallas team has ever failed to make the playoffs when they started the season 5-2. Most clubs do not fail there.

The only way we don't make the playoffs within a reasonable degree of certainty is if Romo gets knocked out.

A lot of football left to be played yet. Yes, the Buccs win helps us a lot in that WC race. But with a win tonight we are in control for the rest of the year. Just win. Only the Saints are in the way, which at this point is not a concern for me. Lets win the next 4 games. Get to December first.

I'm not going to start thinking about the playoff picture until after Week 12. Right now I'll echo all the other sentiments - if you win a bunch, you usually get in.
