Did the Cowboys actually look best in the NFC East

In week 1 the Cowboys would have beat the Jags in Dallas, while Philly would have lost to the Niners in Philly.

The Cowboys looked the best of the NFC Least.

Their offense was in command of the Niners D but were halted by Romo's INTs and Murray's fumble. I'm going to assume that this game from Romo was a fluke until further notice - he has earned that right. The D will be bad but can only improve as the season progresses.

You know if you ask a question and don't like the answers that line up with your answer...maybe you should not ask the question or at the least be open to the idea that most people are not going to agree with your take.

Just something to consider.

Yes, I did consider that, and I don't care what their answers were. I knew it would get a wide range of answers. They do not bother me in the least. Just wanted to see others opinions. It wasn't to see if anyone agreed with me, as I know all too well, that will never be the case. Nor do I care.
But that post you replied to was about the "usual" comments, not the well though out ones.

Dallas lost the game in about 4 minutes of playing time. Everything after that was garbage time for the Niners. You guys think the Dallas defense tightened up, but it was SF who gameplanned to close the game out. Harbaugh doesn't throw the ball 40 times with a huge lead. We were embarrassed at home.

If you want to change the entire dynamic of the game by taking away turnovers to fit your fantasy, go ahead.

It was a lead that would grow to 28-3 before the half.

"We have to keep going," 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick said. "They have a great offense. They can score points at any moment, so offensively we need to score again."

Take it for what it's worth... there is no doubt in my mind that the 49'ers backed off on some of their passing in the second half. However, they didn't take their foot off the accelerator.

Take away Romo's INT's, And Murray's fumble, even though other teams had their turnovers too.
But did Dallas actually play the better overall ball this first weekend of the East.

Washington did nothing against a not so good Texans team. RG3 harassed all day, defense looked bad, just that Houston couldn't score.

Giants defense looked worse than ours was supposed to have. Eli looked a s bad as Romo, and their overall offense did not look good either.

Eagles defense didn't look all that great, against a poor Jaguars team, and Eagles offense did nothing until Jaquars started screwing up, and got tired. Stupid penalties. But overall they did come back and looked decent even at that. So I won't take that away from them. Still a formidable win as they fought back.

Dallas had a solid game running the ball, and at times passing, until well, Romo had brain farts.
Defense played better than expected, really only gave up 14 points. Yeah, the doomers saying SF let up, ran the ball, blah, blah, blah...even if so, the run defense still did what they were supposed to do, and stopped them mostly in the 2nd half. Still too many wide open receivers in the passing game though.

But overall, I believe we looked the best, with the Eagles a very close 2nd. Giants , then Commanders.

And yes I watched all the games.

Commanders were on regular TV in Houston, I had Eagles on through my slingbox at house back in DFW.
Cowboys on in Houston, then Giants tonight.
So it's not from highlights or reading or just my thoughts.
I did see all 4 games.

I Tivo'd the Commanders and Eagles games and watch both. The Commanders were not good. The Eagles offense was getting whupped in the 1st half by the lowly Jags. The Jags just were not going to win with Henne as the QB, IMO.

Teams have to play at least 2 games to see trends develop. The cure for the Cowboys is easy, IMO. Just quit having Romo take his eyes off the field for play-action. He had 3 INTs when he took his eyes off the field for a run fake. Maybe they can put that back in as he shakes off the rust later in the season, but for now they need to take that out of the playbook. If they have to do it, don't have him looking for a difficult 20 yards pass in the middle of the field. Make it sideline passes or let him roll out with the run fake and look for something in the 5 to 10 yard range.

Agree. Bootleg rollout after play action would be a good place to start.

They changed their entire offensive gameplan in the second half, based on the score. There is no denying that. You can't just wave a magic wand and assume the game would have played out exactly the same way if the turnovers never happened.

No, for the most part, I agree with you.

I just think that Harbaugh was still trying to score as best he could without risking the big lead.

I have no doubt that the defensive stats were skewed some by the nature of the early blowout. What I do know is that SF was trying its best to run the ball in the second half... that they are a very good, physical running team... and that the Cowboys defense stood up much better in the run game than they ever did last year.

Unfortunately, I also understand that the Cowboys defense didn't have to worry about the pass quite as much in the 2nd half, and so could load up against the run better.

Still, even with that, the physical nature of the Cowboys team in matching up with SF, and against the run game in particular, looks much better than last year to my untrained eye.

In the end, we need to wait a couple more games to really see what we have.

No, the Dallas Cowboys looked the worst by far. Home opener, 4 turnovers, a QB who threw AWFUL passes all day long including 3 horrendus interceptions (these weren't fantastic plays made by the defenders), an offense that couldn't finish drives, Dez showing no heart, etc.

The other teams looked terrible honestly. This Division winner might just be under .500 if last weekend is any indication.

I watched the Philly game and Foles first half looked like a mirror image of Romo's (with the exception that Philly was lucky enough to be playing the Jaguars). Washington and New York looked really, really bad.

As disturbing as it seems, Dallas might have a chance to compete for the Division, but Romo has to play waaaaaaay better than he did on Sunday for that to occur.

this team was bad at qb play, defense, special teams, scoring, preventing the other team at scoring and overall coaching. other than that we were ok.

Only thing "bad" I saw was QB play. Everything was decent or good enough to win.
