Did They Let Us Score?

I have seen plenty of "letting the score" deals... that in no way looked like any of those other times. I do not believe they let Zeke score at all.

No, I saw the look on thier faces and although it could have been disappointment from the scenerio it looked more like they got beat, to me at least.

Pitt had 2 timeouts at that point. They burned one early. I was instantly pissed with the touchdown. It was literally 5 seconds off the clock after the 3 minute warning. The game would have been easily sealed if we ran three times and they couldn't stop the clock on the last run.

Its moot now. Congrats fella's. We have homefield advantage in sight. My boss is a Steelers fan though.....

I think they did. Two timeouts, some time left. Their only chance was to get the ball back.

No.

Two Steelers players made clear they did not let Ezekiel Elliott score on the 23-yard TD with 1:55 left. They were trying to hold to FG.

Uh, what 23 yard TD? He scored from the 15.

So you think that he should have gone down at the 1 regardless if they were letting him score or not? Didn't Bryan Westbrook do that to us in 2007?

On the Zeke run that put us up 29-24? What was the right thing to do there? Score or go down at the one? They had 2 time outs left, but it was under 2 mins. Not a criticism, just curious as it is not clear what happened there.
I think they let us score there right after the 2 min warning. I firmly believe that.

I think they let us score to make sure they had a chance with the ball.

I wonder how that situation is coached from the Cowboys perspective.

They should have told Zeke to sit down at the 1 if he broke through the line. We could have eaten the time up and went in or kicked a FG.

Glad we got some redemption. With how our D was playing, you have to be aware of the situation. Get that first and go down and let Bailey do his thing.

No way. Nothing is guaranteed in that situation...miss, block, turnover...too many bad things can happen. If they had a lead, different story, possibly. Not when you're behind, though.

That's a good point. I wonder what the score was when Westbrook did that to us in 2007?

Yes, but they led by one point at the time, IIRC.

The bottom line when the first down is so close to the goal line you can't take the chance to just fall down. If he falls down short and then there is a holding call on the next play it backfires.

I don't think so at all. You never a make a call into your team defense and just tell them to lay over.
