When we re-signed LT Flozel Adams to a new contract in the few remaining hours before FA started, he reportedly told his agent he wanted to remain with the Cowboys but also get paid. He also said he didn't want to move elsewhere & start all over again playing for a losing team -- obviously the Dolphins.

Although the Dolphins made quite a splash in FA with so many signings, their media started asking where was the big FA signing they had anticipated.

I really believe the Dolphins were banking on the Cowboys not re-signing Adams. They saw Flozel -- a Cowboy pro bowl LT -- as their big splash FA signing/missing piece on their OL. He would be introduced to Dolphin fans & the media in a big PC as their big signinging away from the Cowboys with Parcells/Ireland/Sparano all standing around with big smiles congratulating each other. Well, Parcells got all the coaches he wanted from us along with Ireland & a few small Cowboy signings, he didn't get the big Cowboy (Adams) he probably really wanted.

Even worse, there is the possibility the Dolphins might have to use their first rounder (which they desperately want to trade) on an OT instead of a defensive player. Parcells may enjoy being VP of whatever in Miami but I bet he was thinking "life sucks" when he found out he wasn't getting Flozel.

Now some of you would prefer to believe Parcells wouldn't put out that kind of money on a 30+ LT but let me tell you there was a lot of interest around the NFL in Adams. Adams was at the top of the FA heap as the best OT available (a highly prized LT coming off a pro bowl year on a playoff team) where protected fellow pro bowler QB Tony Romo.

At last my posting related to Cowboy stuff rather then some of the junk we've had to put up with in the last few weeks. Who cares who/when Eli Manning is getting married? Who caries about WR Chris Henry of Cincy getting release -- although admit it was interesting but not surprising after all he was a Bengal. If I see another Favre is coming back posting, I unplug my computer. I'm bored. I demand Jerry sit down and have a chat on line with our forum. We best Cowboy forum there is and we deserve to speak to our leader (Jerry Jones) who can reassure us about the great success we will have on draft day. My God, when I checked out DMN Cowboys blog, it went to the Mavs blog. Why doesn't Dallas media get off their butt and at least interview some of our newbies from last season about what they think of weight conditioning program, do a big piece on Zack Thomas & how he likes the Cowboys so far, etc.

I demand more Cowboy info RIGHT NOW.

Who cares? I hope we ruined everything for them.

I hope we have, too.

This Parcells move to the Dolls had me perplexed from the beginning.
He moved to a lousy team that, at best, if it chose wisely in the draft and made some good FA moves, they'd still take at least four years to be competitive.

Parcells does not have that time left in his remaining years.
And he's not the type to have patience before his heart starts yearning for the center of the known universe, which is New York.

Just a humble guess: The Dolls stink it up for 2 years, Parcells throws in the towel in year 3 and leaves the mess in year 4 for his successor to clean up.
Man boobs is old. He's done. Only New York will make him happy and N.Y. is probably thinking he's way past his prime, anyway.

Oh, then he writes a memoir and trashes all his previous bosses, Jerra included.

I was visiting some Dolphin boards and alot of Dolphin fans were pissed that we resign Flo. I really think Miami planned on him being their LT so they could move Veron Carey back to his natural RT position.

Now Miami will never admit this, but I think you are probably right in your assumption.

I don't know.

Miami is in a different phase than we are. They are completely retooling their roster. If you look at what they've done in free agency, it was basically bringing in a bunch of younger guys.

They could have brought in a Asante Samuel type player (not saying he'd necessarily have signed there) but instead, they went after a bunch of younger guys with upside.

Adams doesn't really fit that. Its probably going to take them 3 years before they could contend for anything, really, and thats assuming they settle the QB situation. By then, Adams would be on his last legs and they'd be looking for a LT again....

I really wonder how much they'd have pursued Adams if he hit free agency.

I think a lot more was made of it than reality because of the Parcells-Dallas-Sparano love triangle.

But that's just my opinion.
