Yes, to which I said, "Let's let him at least take the lead in this game before making such comparisons". Romo did, so for this week at least, he can think of himself as Joe Montana...

I think Montana had won his first SB by his 4th season... can it be?

It's too bad Romo is already 26. Granted, he's not an old fart... but having this kid start when he was 23 or 24 or so would have been awesome.

I thought it was an odd comparison. If anything, he reminds me more of Brett Farve. Montanna was never known for high velocity and a quick release. Madden is senile.

From the Mosely blog.

Tony Romo was the man tonight. As Madden said, "He looks like the guy that walks into the pool hall, sinks the 8-ball, takes your money and leaves." Amen.

He's a young QB, I don't care how you look at it, Eli is 25!

Yah that's true. It would just be great if we found a QB we could start for 10 years or so like Aikman. I know he was learning and yada yada the past 3 years so he wasn't really "wasting" time, but game experience would have been a great investment. I might be jumping the gun with Romo since he's only started 1 game, but imagine what he _could_ be like in 3 years.

His age doesn't mean much - we waited for Staubach to finish his Navy enlistment, and if we were hoping Bledsoe would take us there this year, how much younger is Romo than Bledsoe? Romo didn't take the punishment of the last few years as a starter, either. He's good for 5 years or so, and by then if we have any hope, we'll have that sixth ring...

Madden is senile.

Other than that, I agree with him completely ;)

Romo is Favre v. 2.0. the pace and how he keeps the ball tight to his chest in drop back. His lightning fast release ... the tuck of his head after he lets it rip, how his arm points to the target on follow through... He doesn't have as strong an arm as Brett does, but his accuracy is tremendous. I'm a lil worried on the long out routes off the wrong foot he is prone to throw. A terrific performance in a first start.

You can take Favre v. 2.0 but I'd much rather have the next Montana.

Appreciate what you got, Romo was probably not ready at 23.

Jeff Garcia.. He has a , gunslinger throw, which resembles jeff garcia to me. A friend of mine said he looked like jeff garcia but with a quicker release and a stronger arm.

Well don't be hating me, it is what i thought at the time of watching the game.:D

Without getting too far into it, I think Romo gets the ball there plenty fast. He may have an average arm strength wise, but his ball seems to have a very high RPM level, which makes it fly with a high level of velocity. There is a difference. In other words, the ball spins to tightly and at such a high level, caused by his tight release, it makes for a high level of velocity, which makes up for his average arm and more.
