Diggs Really Should Have Played

Well with that logic why trade Micah then, right?? Dallas isn't eating a boat load of guaranteed money risking re injury on a guy they're cutting, and you're not gullible enough to still believe this team was making the playoffs, this team was always fools gold all season!!
I remember when they did this with Jaylon. But they were transparent with that.

They are not taking him off because they dont want him to play because if he plays and gets hurt they have to pay him next year.
I believe this....to an extent. What's curious about this is he has according to reporters been heavily involved in practice the past 2 weeks. He could easily injure himself there. In fact he tore his knee up the first time in 2023 during practice.

Any reason btw that I'm unable to insert imoges like a smiley face? Looks disabled. Anyone know?

He did look better the first couple of games and then regressed. He was looking slow and unable to change direction. But with all the fuss about his rehab he probably was forced to.
He and his team insisted he was ahead of schedule with his health.

I mean Diggs also said he had rehabbed sufficiently and we see what happened there.

Well, it appears that he felt better about rehabbing on his own with his own trainers. Now, he's being paid by the team and should have followed what the team told him to do, but it's also his body and I can't blame him for doing what he thought was best for himself.

I don't think he thought he wasn't being a team player. I think he thought he was doing what he needed to get back the quickest. Based on the rehabs of players like Michael Gallup and Terrence Steele, I can understand him thinking that.
How'd you judge Diggs' rehab vs Overshown's? Don't you find it odd he's been able to come back from season ending surgery 2 years in a row? Or is Diggs full of it?

Overshown works for his money though. He wrote the book on rehab.

I get it on Diggs. I get what both sides are saying.

I just think, at the end of the day, Jerry could have put his ego on the back burner. And Diggs should have played.

I didn't say that I agreed with Diggs' decision. I only said that I can understand why he made it. I see no evidence that he just decided he was going to goof off and not take it seriously. I believe he thought he was doing what was best for his body. I think that's why he essentially did the same thing this year, rehabbing on his own with his own rehab people.

I think the Cowboys' record with rehab has been spotty. Now, there's a good reason for that because it is simply not an easy thing to come back from a season-ending injury. Some players never get all the way back.

Javonte Williams is a good example coming from another team. He was set back by his injury for two years before coming here and regaining his game.

According to Javonte, he was ready physically to bring it after a year while in Denver. He just didn't have the mental aspect or drive, something along those lines. I'm paraphrasing.

Lol, it seems like yesterday 90% of you were fluffing this guy. Same as zeke, same as Mazi, same as Bland, same as Ez, same as the majority of any players we draft or pick up in FA. Jerrah has you guys by the balls.

Quick to praise and quick to talk **** as soon as it doesn’t work out. How about you give some of these players a year or two to prove themselves before making a hasty “matter of fact” judgement which is exactly what Jerry does and you bash him for it when he’s wrong.

Parsons is one of the best players in the league until Jerry trades him, then he wasn’t worth it. Pickens was great, better than Ceedee, until his true “self” showed, then we should trade or franchise him. We finally have a Super Bowl winning coach in McCarthy…3 years later he sucks.

It’s comical how hypocritical some of you are. It never ends. I know some of you have a grip on reality but a lot of you don’t. The cowboys are the best reality show on tv.

Sorry for the rant but the hypocrisy is out of control.

Yeah, I think there is definitely the mental factor for some players. Learning to trust the surgical repair can be tough. I don't think that has been the case with Diggs. When he first came back last year, he actually was playing decently, but then he got hurt again, either because he rushed back or because the rehab program he followed wasn't good enough (which is what the Cowboys blamed).

This year, I think he tried to rush back again and prove that his rehab was best for him, and he's never allowed himself to completely heal. Now, I don't know what went on with the concussion, but I think the knee has been the problem. And maybe Jerry saying he's not ready to play while Diggs says he is is just another example of Diggs trying to will himself back onto the field (although media said he looked good in the portion of practice they watched).

So, why didn't Diggs play?

Could he have helped tonight.

Defense still gave up 34 points.

That's a whole lot. We're still 5 players away, at least, on defense.

They should have squashed whatever the beef was. And Diggs should have played.

Egos got in the way on this one, and Jerral should have been the bigger man because what was best for the team was Diggs playing....
OP must not have watched Diggs play in three years.

Excellent assumptive analysis. I'm not being derogatory.

That's the thing here. He should have played.

I did notice Diggs was not as fluid in his knees and hips, and that was hurting his game.

Or maybe it was that he was playing zone, which is out of his wheelhouse.

Well, in response to the above poster mocking how we all ride the roller coaster, I'll just quote Lewis Carroll.

"We're all mad here."

I am curious with what Jerry said whether he simply was not medically cleared to play. I mean, I think he should have been out there, but Jerry's statement was that he wasn't healthy enough to be out there. I believe there are team doctors who determine that.

You very well could be right. But a lot of times even those decisions are arbitrary. Unless you think they have zero influence from Jerry. Why does Jerry hire them in the first place? Good Dr.s? Sure. But they're also corruptable when it comes down down to making borderline calls when you're in a pinch.
