All offseason, we've heard numbskulls proclaim that Tony Romo and this offense can't go anywhere without the big play ability that TO provided.

Now, in only 1 week, we've already been treated to as many big plays as TO made in an entire season. last year

So now is the time to denounce, once and for all, TO is a washed-up has-been who is merely a shell of his former self and merely racked up accumulative stats (while posing horrid efficiency stats) thanks to Romo, Witten and Jason Garrett endlessly (and stupidly) force feeding him the ball despite his horrid, horrid, horrid conversion rates.

Admit your error now, and you'll be absolved of mockery.

Procrastinate further, I can't promise the same immunity for Week 2.

So amazing the way this board splits into polar opposites after every single game.

Why can't we just look at things objectively?

It's true...we had more big plays today from the offense than #81 had all of last season.

But he loves him some him. And North America's team :lmao:

One game doesn't mean a thing.

We'll see what happens when Jason Garrett forgets about the running game AGAIN (he really forgot about it early on) and then see who he blames it on...probably Romo or Witten or Roy Williams or Wade.

I'm happy for Romo and it seems like he's got his old mojo and accuracy back. But I still have concerns about the offense, even though Romo looked much, much better at protecting the ball.

I am very encouraged by what our receivers accomplished today, but I'm not going to gloat or put down TO. He's gone now. He no longer has an effect on the Dallas Cowboys. I was joking in another thread about some of the criticism that Crayton has taken in the past. I'd rather approach it from that angle -- the players who are still here.

It doesn't have to be one or the other.

T.O. can still play. If you have any doubt about what he's capable of, even in his mid-30s, rewatch the 49ers game from last season.

But that doesn't mean we need him. Today we saw that we have a bunch of capable weapons who can make plays for us.

If T.O. does well tomorrow night, does that somehow take away from guys like Crayton, Austin, and Roy? Of course not. Likewise, if T.O. stinks up the joint, that doesn't mean our guys played any better.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I don't give a crap what T.O. does this season. He's old news and has nothing to do with the 2009 Cowboys.

Very true.

Let's see how this offense does against the Giants.

We played the Tampa Bay Bucs, a team that is not very good but as a good team, the Cowboys did what they were suppose to do.

However, Just like when Sterling Sharpe retired and it became Brett Favre's team, the same thing is happening to the Cowboys and Tony Romo. He is the total "unquestioned" leader and now he can play without having to worry about members of his own team (T.O. and his followers) criticize him. I don't think people realize just how big of a burden was lifted off of Tony Romo's shoulder when Terrell Owens rightfully got the axe.

Instead of worrying about Terrell Owens, people should be more dumbfounded at the 7-9 comments.

That's a good question. From before Terrell Owens release in early March until practically kickoff today, the only, I repeat only, objective concern at the wide receiver position was depth. During the offseason:

Did some posters focus solely on that one potential issue?

Nope.

Did some posters repeatedly imply or flat out state that Dallas' wide receivers were average or less?

Yep.

Did some posters clearly discount the viability of perennial Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten and the clearly visible above average talent of Martellus Bennett to supplement the passing game?

Yep.

After one... ONE game, it was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Dallas obviously have offensive weapons in its receiving arsenal. Now, one game does not prove that the offense will win every single game in '09. It simply proves that what has been said about the explosive ability of the passing game is and never was a question--EVEN though some claimed otherwise.

Some have stated for months that they couldn't see a Dallas passing offense minus Terrell Owens as a viable threat. Others stated otherwise. I would be lying 100% if I wasn't curious to know now what 'objective' posters' opinions are after they saw for themselves what this team's passing attack can do without Owens.

It doesn't matter what Terrell Owens does in Buffalo.

Nil. Nada.

He could have a hall of fame season or could have the worst season he could ever imagine or he could have any type of season inbetween one of those two extremes.

Does matter. It's irrelevant.

He's a Buffalo Bill and means nothing to the Dallas Cowboys. Zero. Zlitch.

The day which the entire cowboyszone puts the proper perspective on Owens' influence within the Dallas' present day offensive scheme, the better. Me? I've run out of synonyms for the word/phrase 'nothing'.

Of course any argument about a Tampa Bay team that is playing a new system is moot, because Dallas proved everything today.

And the placement of Bennett as a WR fooled the defense and caused a TD has no bearing. Surely all teams will bite on that for the rest of the season.

Or a lousy read by a safety allowed Austin to have such a great run after the catch.

Or the same player mis-reading Crayton's route allowed him to score.

I agree this team did what they had to and played well. I think if you put the gaffs on TB's side you also have to bring up Romo was as sharp as a donut today.

That too will change. He will play much better.

But to make a finite statement that all is well after this one game may be slightly premature. I mean shouldn't you wait until they play a top tier team before pulling out the oil?

I'm not as interested about anyone proclaiming that the team is on its way to the Super Bowl as I am about reading the opinions of posters, who wish to continue stating or implying that Dallas' passing offense is quantifiably average or worst since Owens' departure.
