This is truely a “what have you done lately” league. Folks keep talking about the last game against the Rams and how we got ran all over. I get it, but this is definitely a knee jerk mentality.
Dallas had the same scheme two years ago in the playoff game against the Packers and held them to 87 yards rushing,17yrds coming from Aaron Rodgers.
People choose to keep echoing this misconception that the 1T would have somehow changed the course of the Rams game.
And they keep writing new forums ab how we need to draft a big run stuffer as if it’s going to happen. THAT IS NOT THE MARINELLI SCHEME! Not sure how many other posters have to repeat this until people get it. Yeah, but I’m sure someone is sitting on their toilet reading this and believes they know more ab how this scheme should be run. Right on..
Just FYI, under this scheme the run defense has been pretty darn good: 4 of 5 years top 10.
2018- 5th ranked/ 3.8avg / 94.6yrd a game
2017- 8th/ 4.1 / 104.0
2016- 1st/ 3.8 / 83.5
2015- 22nd/ 4.2 / 120.9
2014- 8th/ 4.2 / 103.1
Two years before this scheme was implemented:
2013- ranked 27th in the league
2012- ranked 22nd
That said, let’s see how this defense will look with two (reliable) above average edge rushers in DLaw & Quinn. And let TCrawford actually concentrate on DT for which he signed his “big” contract for.. This defensive Line is looking very good and deep. And Dallas is more than likely going to add another ‘stud’ for Marenilli to mold. I personally like how our DL attacks. Yes, there will be moments where it breaks down and that’s what are talented LBers are there for. But to keep hearing people moan ab not having a fat guy in the middle is ridiculous. This scheme has proven it can shut RBs down and dominate. The Rams game was way more than ONE position.
