I'd count on Thornton to return for the playoffs, but I wouldn't exactly count on Lawrence at this time. We'll see in a few weeks I guess, but something tells me he'll be sidelined a while.

Lawrence will play. He played with the back problem for awhile before sitting. Pretty sure he wants to play in the playoffs. No guarantee we win our 1st game and move on to another.

They talked about this on the Break yesterday. If some guys have the chance to play towards the Super Bowl, they'll push themselves through some pain. I imagine a few of these guys will have that mentality as well. I mean, as long as it doesn't hinder the team.

I get the feeling we won't see Lawrence play another down until 2017.

We will know nothing of DLaw's availability until game time. So I would not count him out as some have done.
I can see several different possibilities though.

He will be ready and play.
He will get some plays in as a situational pass rusher. Now since Gregory is back, and Irving and Mayowa are getting a better pass rush.
He will be ready to play if needed, because of what I just said above, but if not needed, let him sit and rest for another week (which this applies for the next game too, if we win)
If Gregory and the other have a very strong performance Sunday, DLaw may just sit even if he is ready to go, as a precaution for the NFCCG / SB.

I think that covers all possibilities other than he simply will not play, which I doubt that is the case. And i say that just as a gut feeling, nothing else.

A month ago I would have said Lawrence would be the key guy to get back. But frankly, I think I'd rather have Thornton and Claiborne back healthy before Lawrence if I had to pick 2 out of those 3.

I hope you're right, just hope that he won't risk further injury if he does end up playing before it's fully healed.

Link stating nerve?

Well yeah, the back is the epicenter of the nervous system. This was reported by Sham on the radio, and he bit his tongue when he said, "By all accounts, Lawrence's back is physically fine. His issue is a nerve that is bothering him, and there is no timetable on that."

So it's not bone related. That's better.
