He played a significant number of snaps yesterday. It looked like he played every other series. I was watching him exclusively on a lot of drives and he just doesn't seem to have much.

1. He looks really small. I think he is way too undersized for this defense.
2. He doesn't seem to have any burst. He may still have a lingering injury, so I guess we have to wait an see here, but I am most concerned about his lack of anticipation of the snap count. He looks like he's half a step behind.
3. He doesn't seem to have a go to pass rushing move. Obviously, he is more of a speed guy, but I just didn't see anything. He was easily absorbed into the blocker, and a lot of times, never got his arms extended when engaging.

I really agree with all your points, but it's too early for me to be overly concerned about it right now. The snap count thing definitely needs to get fixed though, especially if he wants to be a turn-the-corner type of pass rusher.

agreed.. his pass rush has been very underwhelming thus far.

I will say this - the DEs this game did a really good job of containing the edge. Rather than try to blow past and allow Sanchez to side step, they held the wall so that when the middle pressure came in, the QB was stuck. That was far and away the best they have looked in a while.

I agree with you too. It's definitely way too early to try and figure out what his career is going to be, but they better have that man in the weight room this off-season. He was regarded as the third best pass rusher in this draft. When I saw his highlights at Boise State, I wasn't impressed in the least bit.

I noticed those same things last night. Since he is a rookie who missed so much this year it's still early to be overly concerned. But overall I'm a little disappointed.

I just hope he doesn't make us conservative in attacking a pass rusher in free agency. I still do think we need a JPP for a few years until-hopefully D law gets groomed.

rookies really need camp time and losing that hurts.
him being marginalized this year isn't much more than should be expected even if we hoped otherwise.

like brent it would be nice of they provided something extra, the bigger picture is what the team looks at with them.

I agree, but you would like to see some flashes of raw talent in there.

Let's let him get a year to get stronger in weight room, an actual training camp under his belt and also someone opposite of him that can rush the passer as well. He has shown some explosion on a few run plays like the Giants game.

Can't judge things like pass rush and explosion against a team like Philly because the first job for a DE is to stand up the tackle and set the edge. He was strong enough to push Peters back a couple of times.

Against Philly, you play more of a read and react, rather than pin your ears back and get in the backfield, style. Doing that makes it almost impossible to really splash as a DL.
