im considered on the pessimistic side. Give him some time and i agree with the fans that know. Give him an offseason in teh weight room, give him time to learn it. His learning curve can be in different areas. HE does bring something to the table. But this defense has been playing from behind (not in score) so a lot is probably being tossed on them. A lot is probably shot cutted to get ready for each game. I , who was not a fan of the trade am willing to give him another year due to teh fact Rod has a lot to do to keep this defense to the level its playing at.

Lawrence should be cut asap. So should Jadeveon Clowny on Houston, whose had a bad year.

Come on guys, give him a chance! Both have battled injuries and haven't played much!

If that's true then I feel like it will be successful. The guy is a rock on run downs, I'd love to move him strongside and find that last edge rusher.

Yeah if we could use him on the strong side that would be a huge asset. He will have to get a bit stronger this offseason for that position though.

I didn't like trading a 3rd rounder to get this guy at all, or anyone for that matter, but it's kind of unfair to judge him on these few games. He got injured and missed training camp and preseason. That's huge as a rookie. He almost missed the first half of the season. You can't just throw him into NFL speed halfway into the season when everyone is polished and fine tuned and expect results. Most realistic people knew he would not give you much under those circumstances.

Give him a full offseason in the weight room, OTAs, mini camp, training camp, preseason and all that jazz. And see what he has next year. If it's still the same, then yes, I'd have some concerns.

When are people gonna realize Lawerence was drafted to replace Spencer and not Ware?

Being a Boise State Alum......I knew there was a possibility this front office was gonna misuse this kid. D-Law is gonna best utilized as a speed rushing strong side rusher. He's never gonna be Demarcus Ware. And fans expecting this are never gonna appreciate his game.

As for last night....I don't think he got more than a hand full of snaps. Gonna have to go back and rewatch the game. But I do recall him not being in 3rd down and long situations (Which pissed me off)...... which would be where he would be best utilized.

Right now.....I'd start Spencer for Selvie @ LDE...And then use Lawerence is passing situations. Selvie has completely disappeared.

If that was the case, they shouldn't have traded up for him. Ealy would've sufficed.

Should have NEVER given up our 3rd rounder for this guy. We could have had Trai Turner on our offensive line for years to come at the 3rd round pick. We should have stayed where we were at and taken a Timmy Jernigan type player. I'm so pissed that they gave up a 3rd rounder for this guy.

I predict a lot of premature evaluation is going to be diagnosed next year when he is healthy and plays the entire year.

I wouldn't judge him until he has a training camp and offseason to work with and a 1-tech that command a double team.

I feel like he is still battling an injury.

He is also quite a bit undersized . Great thing is he has a great frame if he can add some weight.

Worst case scenario he is good run stuffing DE with decent pass rush. That is the perfect guy if we can add a quality pass rush DE or two.

That's not the worst case scenario. By a longshot. That's closer to best case scenario

Actually, you may be correct about Clowney. He has to have microfracture surgery. His career could be over. Or at least his chance of being a dominant player could be gone.

I will say this - the DEs this game did a really good job of containing the edge. Rather than try to blow past and allow Sanchez to side step, they held the wall so that when the middle pressure came in, the QB was stuck. That was far and away the best they have looked in a while.

People sometimes forget that a DEs first job is to contain the edge. Its not always about sacks.

If we had to contain Sanchez and their running game we had to contain the edge. If we do that we win.

Let's get a full two year's of resumes before comparing. This country, that I love dearly, is full of instant gratification.

I agree with you. Hope he proves doubters wrong but I never heard of him college. Boise St is not the place to get defense,

Boise State would destroy that fraud Missouri team right now.....The SEC in general has been ducking BSU for years. Most wins in college football since the turn of the century....= Boise St.

Yup keep believeing BSU don't produce players:lmao2:

I didn't even notice he played. :(

That's the point.....

I think the guy got maybe 4 snaps last night. You can't fault the player if the coaching staff isn't gonna play the guy. I've said it all year....Marinelli's D-line rotation is garbage.
