1.) Tony Romo, get well soon. Like, real soon. The Brandon Weeden start went much worse than anyone was anticipating. Weeden was 9-of-19 passing for 96 yards, 1 INT and 40.7 QB rating through three quarters. He finished 18 of 33 for 183 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs. Much of that came on the meaningless final drive. Weeden’s outing Sunday afternoon showed just how valuable Romo is to this team’s success. It also showed the value of having an accomplished backup like Kyle Orton. Dallas is obviously in significant trouble if Romo suffers further injury and is lost for the season.
2.) A streak was going to an end Sunday afternoon in Arlington and it ended up being DeMarco Murray’s run of at least 100 rushing yards in eight consecutive games. The Cardinals extended their streak of not allowing a 100-yard rusher. Arizona has the NFL’s best mark in that category, which is now up to 18 straight games. Murray ran hard, there just weren’t enough holes or time of possession for him to extended his mark.
3.) Patrick Peterson might be the best cornerback in the game, but even a player with his elite ability should not have been able to prevent Dez Bryant from making a catch until the game’s final series. Not since Nov. 25, 2010 has Bryant been held without a single catch in a game. It nearly occurred again on Sunday. Bryant scored on a 3-yard fade from Weeden with 1:08 remaining and he was so unimpressed that he didn’t even throw up the X, his signature TD celebration. Bryant was targeted 10 times. He caught two passes for 15 yards.
