Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray (29) escapes to the outside as he got blocking up front against the Oakland Raiders in the second half at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Thursday, November 28, 2013. (Tom Fox/The Dallas Morning News)

About a month ago the Dallas Cowboys looked like they were headed nowhere fast. But after two consecutive victories they find themselves on top of the NFC East standings as their December march begins with a game against Chicago at Soldier Field. A win Monday could give Dallas a major boost as it aims to claim its first playoff berth since 2009. Here is a look at the Cowboys’ keys to victory:

Establish ground game

Rarely in recent seasons has the Cowboys’ rushing attack looked as formidable as it did in Dallas’ 31-24 victory over Oakland last month. Together, DeMarco Murray and Lance Dunbar gained 145 yards on 29 carries, helping Dallas erase a deficit and then preserve a lead. But Dunbar is now out with a season-ending knee injury and his absence will be felt by a ground game that has lacked the spark he provided. Still, the Cowboys, who acquired fullback Tyler Clutts last week, must remain committed to its ground offense and establish it early in a game that could be influenced by the cold temperatures. It makes even more sense to do so against the worst run defense in the league.

Without looking, let me guess.

Run the ball
Don't commit turnovers
Get pressure on the Bears QB?

Yep. Keys are the same for every game.

most of the time.

I think the biggest thing for tonight is to survive the emotion of the first qtr and to make sure we are not down with them getting the ball after the ceremony at half time.

hopefully murray and ware have huge nights.
