He usually rubbed me the wrong way.
He's not a Dallas area sports fan (Cincinnati Reds and Bengals, and Ohio State fan). You don't need to be a fan at all to cover a team--sometimes even the opposite is better--but he was over-the-top negative most the time.
He'll find employment though, as there are far worse than him out there.

I could take him or leave him. I know he rubbed a lot of fans the wrong way, as he did me at times, probably more often than not. Other times he was ok.
However he was one of the few, if not the only one that would ask the tough questions. though many were also stupid.
A lot of reporters, and radio media would complain, whine, gripe...but when it came time to ask to one's face, they wouldn't. Steve Dennis did, a good part of the time, it seemed anyway.

He's one of those guys that always tried to make himself part of the story.

Does anybody remember when he was hosting the Keith Brooking show (Brookings for some people) and Brooking called him out?

Who actually even watches the sports broadcast on the news? I live in DFW and never turn it on. They are all pretty hopeless. Goes for print media as well.

The only thing I listen to is sports talk, The Fan. Ben and Skin are pretty worthless as well, but at least they have access to the goings on inside the Ranch and have guests on that can actually talk football. Same for the morning show.

Me... not because I grew up with him or because I was used to his daily commentary but just because he wasn't a fluff reporter. Every article I read from him had something of substance in it.

I hope he finds another gig quickly. He adds a lot of dramatics but he also asks a lot of the necessary tough questions. DMN has hired some wimps lately.

Not sad he's gone, and maybe it was deserved, but having been in his shoes, any joy I might feel is a bit tempered.
