There are folks who still haven't forgiven Jerry Jones for firing Tom Landry -- and a lot of 'em were steamed that the new stadium wasn't named after the Cowboys' legendary longtime coach.
Maybe this will make them feel just a little bit better.
The first image intended for public consumpition on the Jerrytrons was footage of Landry. The famous fedora was about 35 yards long for a few seconds. It opened a made-for-the-media video that started with several NFL Films clips of Cowboys greats.
(The video segued into shots from all angles of the new Cowboys Stadium's exterior, then several thrilling clips of Tuesday's OTA workouts, followed by highlights from the Cowboys' 2008 season and more stadium shots. The quality of picture is what you'd expect for a $40 million entertainment system.)
Jerry also paid tribute to Tex Schramm, citing some words of wisdom from the Hall of Fame Cowboys executive/promotions whiz as part of the inspiration behind the world's biggest televisions.
"Our NFL game can never become a studio game," Jerry recalled Schramm saying during their brief time working together. "It needs all the pagaentry and everything that comes with the Coliseum of Rome."
