I know some of you guys were interested in Adarius Bowman, after the Oklahoma State product went undrafted.

According to News Channel 9 in his hometown of Chattanooga, Tenn., he's going to Canada, having signed a rookie contract with the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

Bowman got caught with marijuana just before the draft, which caused his stock to plummmet. But even considering that, it's pretty surprising that he fell far enough to not even get a shot at an NFL camp.

Seriously.... I figured somebody would sign him as a rookie free agent... it just seems weird that nobody would be willing to take a chance on him with the cost so low. Especially since he seemed to have talent.

Well, he's not exactly slow. He did run a 4.7 on an injured leg, but he's been recorded running much faster than that. And he's certainly not slow on the field.

It's 100% the marijuana thing and that's it.

He's got a long road ahead of him, but if he keeps his nose clean he'll end up in the NFL eventually.

I have a hard time believing pot caused him not to be drafted. There has almost certainly something else going on. Probably multiple somethings. Talent beats oops 100 to 1 in the NFL.

if its 100% the pot thing as you claim, why did Talib and Manningham get drafted, but Bowman didnt?

I wonder if this is more related to the Comish's threat to fine teams who draft or sign bad character guys than it is to Bowman's skills.

He may be the victim of an unofficial blacklist.

To begin with, this isn't the case of a kid admitting he smoked pot at some point. This is a kid that got CAUGHT with weed on him between the combine and the draft. If you're a big enough idiot to not stay clean for a couple of weeks before the biggest moment of your life, especially after you know your stock is already slipping, you deserve to be banished to the CFL.

...this economy here is the hottest in all of Canada with the wealth of resources (oil, potash and uranium) there is money flying around like crazy.

A good friend of mine is a Mountie who does undercover drug work here and Bowman won't have a problem.
