He's physical enough to tackle TEs as a Safety, but is he sturdy enough to stay healthy at it? Therein lies the dilemma.

Toss him a couple of biscuits.

Interesting that he's taking Nate Jones' spot in the dime corner package instead of staying outside. That's more of a slot corner spot than a safety-like spot there. I doubt we'd use that package against an offense with a TE on the field.

LOL. Classic.

How about he is replacing Roy in that package bro.

Hamlin and Watkins at deep cover

Newman, Pacman and Jenkins in man on the WR's.

Henry and Burnett/Zach as the 'Nickel LB's'

Four pass rushers - Ware, Spencer, Ellis and pick a guy.

This would be an awesome defense against a spread offense in a 3WR, 1TE, 1RB set.

We ran the package last year with Nate Jones. It's the same package, but Henry is playing where Nate Jones played. Stewart talked about this during the draft. They wanted to use this package more often last year, but Nate Jones sucked arse.

If that means he's replacing Roy to you, whatever.

LOL.

At 6-1, 205, Henry would have 3 months to pack on another 5-10 lbs. of muscle. At 215, Henry would be big enough to take on TEs and also stuff the run. He's always been one of the most physical corner on the team, so that doesn't worry me.
He's not going to bulk up just because he will be playing the dime corner. If he's switching from cornerback to linebacker, yes. Otherwise, no.

I don't think Nate Jones was used to cover TEs, theo

Henry is practicing as the nickel safety, not a dime corner

"They said what they want me to do is when we play like Washington or the Giants to go against their Pro Bowl tight ends," Henry said "I can do a better job covering those guys. It's like a package."

Ummm. Maybe Henry missed understood the coaches.

He's a UFA after 2009, wouldn't surprise me if given the depth at CB once Jones is reinstated if he's not shopped. No way they'll re-sign him given the money tied up there and the youth with Jones, Jenkins, and Scandrick.

We usually agree on most things, but his tackling does not impress me and thats why I wonder if he could ever be an everydown FS...

Maybe I didn't convey my thought as well as I could have. If they have a 3 WR set with 4th athletic TE, that obviously make sense. But last year we ran the package most often when teams would put out 4 receiver sets.

it's probably just a new version of the package that they will test out in preseason and early in the regular season before deciding if it stays. another benefit of having a nice stable of good corners.

Cowboys cornerback Henry working in dime package

IRVING – While Anthony Henry sees a future at safety, he has not yet moved from cornerback. He is, however, seeing time at a different position.
Henry has spent the last few days working inside in the dime defense, covering Pro Bowl tight end Jason Witten. NFC East rivals New York (Jeremy Shockey), Washington (Chris Cooley) and Philadelphia (L.J. Smith) possess productive tight ends, and the Cowboys are exploring defensive options.

"They said what they want me to do is when we play like Washington or the Giants, to go against their Pro Bowl tight ends," Henry said "I can do a better job covering those guys. It's like a package."
With owner and general manager Jerry Jones calling this cornerback group the best he has had, the package would allow Henry, Terence Newman, Pacman Jones and first-round draft pick Mike Jenkins to be on the field at the same time.
"Witten gives me some good work at practice," Henry said. "By going against him, if I have to face another tight end in the league, I think I'll be fine."
If the Cowboys want him to move to safety, he would rather it happen now, "because of the opportunity to really get it down instead of coming to training camp and learning on the run and going into the preseason," Henry said.

Like theogt said, last year, when we played dime safety, Roy was on the field. When we played dime corner, Nate Jones came in and Roy went out. This year, Henry would be in Jones' spot, replacing Roy in that package. So yes, Henry will be replacing Jones when he is replacing Roy.

This would be an awesome defense against a spread offense in a 3WR, 1TE, 1RB set.

It would be much better than that single safety 3-4, which didn't seem to work out so well.

Who used to cover the opposing team's tight ends?

~ ducks ~

And just like that, yet another thread becomes about Roy Williams...

I swear, some of you guys would try to figure out how to drag Roy's name into a conversation about the flippin' WEATHER...

"Kinda warm today, isn't it"??

Yeah, and it's all because Roy can't cover"...

Dude, your signature just doesn't work.

I've seen it for a while but didn't really care but every time I am at work and viewing a thread, I can tell that you have posted because it stretches the page out to the point where I have to scroll over.

Not a big deal and not a hard fix but just throwing that out there.

I suppose thats 1 way of looking at it.

Really wasn't too big of a problem but just the work computers suck beyond all belief and all the settings on them reset as soon as they are restarted.

No biggie.

Between Henry and Z. Thomas who I think was brought in for some of his coverage skill as well, we can do a better job at covering those guys in our division
