And yet all the dancing by the fans to "be right" about football matters, Austin is still missing time.

I have yet to get a legitimate answer to my question.

What is Plan B if Austin can't go? Where does the deep threat come from?
Nowhere. Stanback was waived. We're doomed. Thank you for pointing it out to us.

At the WR position? No idea.

I think Bennett and Felix can rip off big plays so again, barring injury those two guys will probably have more of an impact that Austin.

Roy Williams.

He averaged over 3.25 plays of 40+ yards during his first four seasons with the Detroit Lions.

That number should go up this year with the Dallas Cowboys.

Miles Austin is a complimentary player who can get deep, Williams is a starter.

Martellus Bennett should also log several big gains of the 20 yard variety.

First of all, positive fans don't respond with venom to every ESPN, DMN, or FWST article. There are plenty of 'he's usually an idiot, but that was actually a pretty good read' posts.

Who said anything about "positive" fans? The point is that when a column or news piece is critical of the Cowboys, 99% of the respondents will predictably jump on the author--evidence or sound reasoning be damned. When was the last time a writer was criticized for overpraising a player or member of the front office? I'm guessing never.

Secondly, even the most positive fans are on the record with problems or concerns with the team, they're not uniformly positive.

Yet they're the first ones to break out the "chicken little" cracks at the first sign of dissent. It's a borderline thought crime around here to point out problems with the team. If we win next week but Tony throws three picks, don't dare bring it up, because someone will rush to accuse you of "whining" or not "enjoying" the victory. As if they have the right to tell others how to react to a game.

Which means, pretty much by definition, they're less predictable than the subset of negative posters who've got nothing good to say about a talented and competitive team.

Nope, they're just as predictable/obnoxious. Even worse, they have strength in numbers.

Just because there are two sides to every coin, it doesn't mean that one side isn't uglier and more annoying than the other.

Well, the shills and happy fans vastly outnumber the cynics, so that makes their serial mischief much more noticeable in most people's eyes.

You just can't come to grips with the fact that your side is the heads-side of this particular Susan B Anthony dollar.

That coin, much like Carp, was a bust.

Did he ask her who was on it and she didn't know, a la Grant's Tomb?

per Wade Phillips:

As far as injuries...

Miles Austin did not practice today, which is a little different than I thought. I thought, based on talking to him the other day that he was fine. He did some running today and I think he will practice on Wednesday.

But that's more of a concern than I had previously.

I guess I talked to the wrong person, I talked to him and he said he was fine. The trainers said they wanted one more day with him to make sure he could do everything.

And I think he did that today, so it looks like he'll be practicing full speed on Wednesday, but we'll see.

Either way,Austin is a twinkie. He may have talent but he is consistently hurt so it doesnt matter. He is young to be hurt this often as well. Ogletree will step up. He is a better WR from what I have seen so far anyway. He actually gets open.

These guys hit it right on the head!

This Austin thing is getting old. He may end up being next year's Isiah Stanback--a guy with a lot of potential that has wasted a roster spot for years.
I think this should be his year to step up or step out. All the speed and all the potential in the world doesn't do much if it's always sitting on the bench.
And, after all, it's not like he's ever lit it up anyway.

report as objectionable

I agree with the clock above - step up and be a football player who plays with intensity and ignores little nagging injuries or go teach high school football in Jersey. We dont need to waste years on someones hopes and imagination any longer. Give us 16+ games, fill your potential or leave. Period.

He asked her how much it was worth. She said "two dollars."

Every other answer was "John F. Kennedy."

Ogletree would do just as good a job as MA. I'm comfortable with him in the lineup...

And yet he got thrown to less and caught fewer passes when in the game at the same time as Miles Austin.

But I guess Austin can't get open.

He probably can't run past Nnamdi Asomugha either, it was likely just a bad camera angle.

I'm glad we have Kevin Ogletree and I hope he develops into a good player, but he's going to be a game day inactive in the present unless another wideout is injured.

I just don't get why some have so much venom for a guy who is a total team player.

Injuries happen.

Austin didn't tell Jerry Jones to release Terrell Owens or to suggest he would be one of the players to replace Owens' production.

And yet some have an axe to grind with the player.

I'm glad he's here.

..agree, give him the hands on expeirience. I imagine UFA Drew Pearson got a break getting into the lineup and never gave up the spot until he made the 70's All Decade team with close to 500 receptions..

Romo seems to like him.........there will be some rough spots, but has been no diff w/ Hurd & Austin as pointed out.
