Cowboys owner-general manager Jerry Jones, studying the Senior Bowl workouts, admitted Marion Barber's string of injuries the last two years could cause a change in how the offense divides carries among the running backs.

injuries have limited Barber's production down the stretch in each of the last two seasons. In 2008, a lame Barber gained only 15 yards on 13 carries in the final four games. In two playoff games this season, Barber became only the second back in this century to have more than 12 carries and fewer than 20 yards rushing. He ran 11 times for 18 yards.

``We have had an injury issue there at the end of each of the last two seasons,'' Jones said. ``That may have something to do with the amount of time we can give the other backs. That could impact that decision.''

Would Jerry consider to trade Barber? I hope to god he doesnt when MB is healthy he can flat out ball, as we all know that.

I don't think there is a market for an oft-injured short yardage back making $4M/season. He's not going anywhere.

I'm all for giving Jones more carries but I'm still worried about his ability to stay healthy all year with the increased workload. I would like to see TC get some more carries as well. I do think MB was hurt from the first NY game onward and we never did see him completely healthy.

They should all be used equally. Having Choice on the bench so much is a waste.

We have all this talent at the position, there's no reason not to use it all. Not to mention everyone would be fresh throughout the game.

If we could get a 2nd round pick or even a high 3rd, we should trade Barber. I don't know if anyone would do that deal, though. RBs don't seem to have much trade value, in general unless they are elite backs. We could really use an extra premium pick to rebuild the OL. Having a Pro Bowl 3rd back is a bit of a luxury this team can't afford given the holes we have elsewhere.

this is 2010 not 2007. Barber is done as a feature back in my opinion. He hasn't "balled" in quite some time. It's not like he is going to get faster starting his 6th season. He can't run over people and can't run around them. But hey, he can pick up the blitz. Between RW and Barber blocking, Jones may end up with 2000 yards next season.

You're forgetting the Philly game where he had something like 2 carries for 3 yards. That wasn't made clear in the article.

He certainly had a short shelf life. Time to move on and let Felix and Tashard carry the load.

I think that means they'll take a very serious look at reducing his carries throughout ball games and giving him more of the load late in games to close things out like before.

Which, to me, is the best roll for him. Keep him fresh for the short yardage, goal line, and 4th quarter stuff and allow Felix and Choice to do their thing for the first 3 quarters.

I 'm leaning to more carries for Choice also, I think he has earned that.

Yep. It really made no sense. I try not to second guess the coaching too much, but there were some questionable decisions at times throughout the season.

TC and Felix rotation will make Barber a forgotten man in no time.
