Over at Sportingnews.com, NFL writer Clifton Brown ranks each position, and one name that caught my eye was Patriots CB Randall Gay, who has turned down a contract proposal from New England and will hit the open market tonight at 11 p.m.
He was ranked just behind teammate Asante Samuel as the second best corner available, and Clifton marks him as the best value at the position.
The "best value" at receiver is Bernard Berrian, though with revelations of the numbers being thrown around on him, there may not be a ton of truth in that anymore.

Best value: Gay. He's a winner, he's good enough to start for most teams, and he's only 25.
I covered the guy for two-plus years and, when healthy, he proved to be a solid piece of the defense, who brought the versatility to play both safety and corner. Gay was marked ahead of Chargers CB Drayton Florence, who's another name of interest, having played for Wade Phillips in San Diego. Another of Brown's best values? Julius Jones at running back, who he ranked just behind Michael Turner at the position. The "best value" at receiver is Bernard Berrian, though with revelations of the numbers being thrown around on him, there may not be a ton of truth in that anymore.
