DMN Blog: Can Tony Romo be a bus driver?

Tony Romo gets the most unfair criticism out of any player on our ball club.

Not one single QB in this league, not even Brady or Manning - could suceed behind our line last year.

When he gets protection, Romo will light you up for 300+ and 3 TDs. When he doesn't, he feels pressure that isn't there - and feels as if he has to 'make a play'. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't - but Tony Romo has been about #22 on the list of guys that have been responsible for our late season slides.

Thats what we're getting with him, and we're a whole hell of a lot luckier than 80% of the other teams in this league searching for a franchise QB.

I take Aikman's word as the gospel on about everything, except music - and he shares the same sentiment that I do. He will finish his career here with one, maybe two lombardi's.

I just see the bigger picture.

I totally agree. I sure as hell wouldn't expect a sober minded coaching staff to attempt to try and make Romo a bus driver QB also. As much talent we have on offense, none of it showcases without # 9. No other player on offense is the catalyst #9 is. The whole offense was non existent without Tony, good backups or not.

You don't pay a guy $32 million in guarantees to be simply a bus driver... He's going to have to learn how to win games at the end of the year.

Out of curiousity, what if Garrett gets stupid and we don't run it down peoples throats with the three headed RB monster and we go techmo bowl. If we get off to a ****ty start do think Jerry orders Wade to fire Garrett??? and if so who be the interim OC??? Just a worst case scenario thought I guess.

That's a good wrinkle that I don't believe anyone has ever brought up. The general concensus is that Wade may get the axe and Garrett be the interm HC but who would run the defense then? Camp? Gratham?

Guess this answers our questions. We're stuck with Wade and Garrett for the season regardless. Jerry is giving them the total benefit of the doubt. remember, Jerry doesn't believe a head coaching change during the regular season is conducive to winning more games during that season. If you look at the history, he's right.

So it's cupcakes and redheads from start to finish this season my friend.
