Since we started doing this at the beginning of the year, I've been waiting to write this: This week the Cowboys get Ed Hochuli's crew.

Yes.

The Cowboys will close Texas Stadium against Baltimore with Hochuli. Maybe you remember this game between Denver and San Diego this year. Or maybe you know about Hochuli's affinity for tight shirts to show off his biceps.

Last week Hochuli's crew worked the Seattle-St. Louis game that had 11 accepted penalties for 75 yards. Seattle was called for five penalties for 35 yards, and St. Louis had 40 yards on six penalties.

Here's the breakdown:

False start - 5
Encroachment - 1
Offensive holding - 4
Defensive holding - 1
Offensive pass interference - 1

Maybe not so bad. His crew was the one chastized for a blown call (publicly chastized) and he issued some sort of apologetic press statement after a week of scrutiny. i think they will be on their A-game after getting called out like that. if I remember, it had repercussions on the crews playoff use too.

Jeesh!!! They were just talking about this dude on PTI and how his call may come down to the Charges missing the playoffs.

Weird, I thought if they had won another game or two that they lost, they would make the playoffs... (in other words, a team with 8 losses can't blame a ref for ruining their season).

Ed Hochuli has long been considered one of the best refs in football. He made a bad call. It cost SD the game (which wouldn't have if they had played better). There have been plenty of blown calls this season alone. That doesn't make him an unreliable ref in general. In fact, I would take his team over virtually every other one in football. And as much as the NFL r****** has been frustrating, their crews are far better than most other major sports (ie. NBA, NCAA football, basketball, MLB)

Oh come on!!! He killed us in the playoffs with the unnecessary roughness BS on Davis and the "grounding" call. I watched the replay of him defiantly walking away from the other ref saying "I don't care!" as the other ref was trying to explain something about the "grounding". He'll keep it close and try to find a way to screw us. Then again, he knows he'll be on primetime with the world watching. He may want to lay low with all the criticism he's dealt with this year. We can only hope...

We have Ed "Guns" "Hercules" Hochuli for the Game.

I am his #1 Fan in Texas!!!!!!!!!!!!;)

I am going to the game. Arriving about 2pm. I am in Section 4 near the Tunnel where the Referee/Officials come out.

I have a huge poster of Ed Hochuli & I hope I can get his autograph & a picture with the Greatest Referee to ever Officiate all NFL Football Games:)

I expect lots of love from the refs in this game. Final game ever in Texas Stadium (barring an NFC Champ game if we're the 5th seed playing the 6th seed).

I'm not into conspiracy theories, but having the Cowboys win and in the playoffs is good for the NFL in today's struggling economic times.

I still say it will be Dallas vs. Pittsburgh in the Super Bowl...a huge, huge game.

Thats why San Diego beating Tampa and Denver losing at home tomorrow to Buffalo would be poetic justice. The Chargers play Denver at home next week and would win the division with a win.

God NO! we are in trouble folks. this guy should never be allowed to work a cowboys game after what Jerry Jones said about him. watch the refs cheating tonight. Roger Goodell is at it again.

Bullcrap! the idea that the NFL wants to Cowboys to win is a joke. look at all the crappy calls we get each week.the NFL has been making money on the fact that there are a lot of Cowboy haters who love to see the cowboys lose. no playoff wins in a decade shoots your post down. just look who the ref in the game tonight.
