Cleveland GM compares Browns to Bears
Browns GM Phil Savage sure doesn't think Cleveland will be gift-wrapping the No. 1 overall pick to Jerry. Savage believes the Browns' roster stacks up with the defending NFC champion Bears.

"You can go down the list and there are some comparisons on both sides of the coin," Savage told reporters in Cleveland. "They were a Super Bowl team and we're perceived to be at the bottom of the barrel in the NFL, but I'm not sure there's that much difference."

The Bears went 13-3 last season, and it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the Browns' record this season included those numbers. Flipped, of course.

Savage didn't have to allow himself to be quoted. Whether he's starting or carrying a clipboard, Brady Quinn is going to sell tickets.

Of course, if he really believes that Cleveland in '07 will have the same results as Chicago in '06, he's nuts.

[Edit] Does Savage know that the Ravens, Steelers and Bengals are much harder divisional opponents for the Browns to beat than the Lions, Vikings and Packers are for the Bears?

Well I have to say that even though Quinn is a rook, Cleveland still probably has a better QB.

That's a pretty safe assumption.
