Cowboys can beat the big, bad Patriots

Tim MacMahon

Noted Cowboy hater Troy Aikman even said so!!!

"I'm amazed really when I hear people say that New England blew the Cowboys out," Aikman said at Valley Ranch today. "I know what the final score was. I realize all that. It was a seven-point game in the fourth quarter. A different play here, and a different play there, it’s a different outcome.

"And I understand that what happened, happened. I get all of that. ... Don't get me wrong -- I think the Patriots are the best team in football. But if they played 10 times, I don't think the Patriots win all 10. I think (the Cowboys) win three or four. I don't think they win five. But if they get New England on one of those three or four days, it's anyone's game."

My prediction: The Cowboys won't get a chance. Strange as it sounds, the Colts are better built for cold-weather playoff games than the Patriots. New England's lack of a running game will catch up to the Pats when the Colts come to town for the AFC Championship Game.

And, of course, the Cowboys proved they could beat the Colts last season.

I'm equally amazed. I watched the game and didn't see a blow out of any kind. I saw a good game where the better team won.

I really hope the Colts can beat the Pats in the playoffs, but - I'll be quite surprised if they do though.

i don't buy that the Patriots can't run the ball...they spread you out so thin that they can run out of 4WR sets...i think the issue for Indianapolis is can they pressure Brady without Freeney...i still like their pass defense but his loss is huge and will be felt down the stretch...Rice is'nt going to strike fear into the hearts of offensive coordinators...the other question mark for Indy is Harrison...how soon he returns and what his effectiveness will be...the biggest thing Indy has going for them is Addai...if they lose him it's over.

and I saw us stay pretty close despite having 12 penalties to their 5...and I dont even recall how many good plays we had wiped out by those penalties, but it was a few

add in another debatable non-catch on a TO sideline ball near goal line....imo it was clearly a push-out..........

Its very bold for Troy to predict the Colts, but his logic is reasonable. Both teams scare me, I don't know who we match up better against.

Troy didn't. MacMahon did.

Correction, it is bold for McMahon to pick the Colts. But his reasoning is logical ;)

I think the Pats make it to 16-0 if they can get pass Pitt. I also think they lose somewhere in the postseason, to a team like Pitt, the Colts or the Boys in the superbowl.

I think the Jags could also beat them.

Imagine Taylor and Jones-Drew against the Pats' Run D.

:laugh2:

Yep.... spotting them 14 in first qtr and then taking the lead in the 3rd.... all we had to do was get our defense off the field and we had a chance.... we just couldnt do it...

Witness Brady "scrambling" (Good Lord he is slow) for the 1st down with no containing Ravens LB on NE's THIRD attempt at 4th-down conversion during the ref-aided "winning drive".

That Pat's LB corp is ancient and they are starting to wear down. If anything does, their Defense is gonna be what kills them.... that combined with a relentless amount of heat on Ego-boy Brady.

B'more let up on the passrush... Wade wouldn't allow that after the Green Bay game. I think we'll see the Cowboys blitzing ramped up from here on out. I sure hope so - may the end be bitter or sweet.... let's throw what we do best at opponents. And that ain't four-man rush relying on five-second coverage.

I still think the Colts win at New England...though it's going to be tougher without Freeney.
