RB Alonzo Coleman, who has missed most of training camp with a knee injury, has been waived. He will receive an injury settlement.

Coleman, a two-year practice squad veteran, was promoted to the active roster for the final three games of last season after Marion Barber injured his toe. At one point, Jerry Jones was fascinated with Coleman's burst, but Coleman never had a chance to crack the RB rotation of Barber, Felix Jones and Tashard Choice.

That trims the Cowboys' roster to 78. They need to get to 75 on Sept. 1.

Is he back from injury? If so, that isn't saving money since Hawkins could file for injury money if he is cut while *still* injured. At least thats what I read on DMN.

The Cowboys' roster now stands at 77 after cornerback Michael Hawkins was waived this morning.

Hawkins, a Carrollton R.L. Turner product whose wild football history includes a brief stop at the University of Oklahoma and a stint with the Dallas Desperadoes, was signed during the off-season. He bruised his patella during the first week of training camp and has not practiced since, but he was apparently healthy enough to not receive an injury settlement.

I can agree with this. No real need for Carpenter to get in there and take away reps from McGee at this point. I like McGee on the move - he just needs to not be afraid to throw the football.
