No Cowboy wore a suit to the today that came close to matching Pacman Jones' crazy look during last year's Kickoff Luncheon.
"I'm looking for Martellus first," Wade Phillips said as the players were arriving. "After that, we'll be all right."
But Marty B went with a conservative look. He sported brown slacks, a brown-and-gray checkered sport coat, white dress shirt and classy striped tie.
"I'm saving my funky stuff for the season," Bennett said. "You've got to dress the part. If I came in here with a lime green coat suit like Jim Carrey on 'Dumb and Dumber,' people would look at me like I'm crazy."
Leonard Davis probably wore the loudest suit, and his pinstriped light gray suit wasn't too wild. You just don't see many suits with these measurements: 48-inch waist, 34-inch inseam, 62-inch chest and XXL sleeves.

Wade Phillips: 'I'M EXCITED ABOUT THIS FOOTBALL SEASON!!!'

Wade Phillips is making a habit about getting all fired up all of the sudden.
First, there was the firm podium smacking during the opening press conference in the Alamodome.
Then, he got all hot and bothered with Courtney Brown, screaming at him for all the diehards to see in the fourth quarter of the preseason loss to the 49ers.
And that Son of Bum was hollering again today in the ballroom at the Hotel Intercontinental. After mentioning that folks don't see him get fired up too often, he cranked it into triple-digit decibels during his speech at the Cowboys Kickoff Luncheon.
"I'M EXCITED ABOUT THIS FOOTBALL SEASON!!!" he shouted loud enough to merit all caps and multiple exclamation points. "We're gonna get going! We're gonna have the kind of team people want to see!"
The rest of the speech was made in Wade's normal voice, but he finished strong. He said he wouldn't make any predictions -- getting in a good jab at Jon Kitna's track record of 10-win predictions in Detroit -- but set the bar high for the Cowboys.
"Our goal now is to have the best football team in the National Football League," the football coach said. "We are committed to doing that this year!"

Surprise selection for Cowboys' 08 offensive player of the year

The Cowboys had seven offensive starters last season who had been to the Pro Bowl. RT Marc Colombo wasn't one of them.
But Colombo was the Cowboys' best offensive player during the 2008 campaign. That's not opinion. It an official declaration from the team, which named Colombo as its offensive player of the year.
Colombo got a standing ovation from his fellow offensive linemen when he picked up the award during today's Cowboys Kickoff Luncheon. It's a testament to how much the Cowboys appreciate arguably the team's toughest player (although his last name wasn't spelled correctly on the video that accompanied the award presentation).
"First off, I'd like to thank my offensive line," Colombo said to begin his brief acceptance speech. "They're giving me crap about this."
The defensive player of the year selection certainly wasn't a surprise. Pretty sure you folks can guess who won that one. Hint: He had 20 sacks last season.
