In case you were wondering, the players no longer earn their base salaries during the playoffs. They get playoff shares now, and the guys on the 53-man roster will pull down $21,000 this week as the division winner. Philadelphia's players will get $19,000.
The guys on the practice squad still get $5,200 they earned during the regular season.
For most of the players, the playoff money for this round represents a significant paycut. Roy Williams made $215,052 per game. Ken Hamlin made $253,235. For this year's rookie class on the active roster, like Mike Hamlin, Jason Williams, David Buehler, Stephen McGee, Kevin Ogeltree, Victor Butler and John Phillips, it represents a little bump in pay. They made the rookie minimum $310,000 this year, which is $18,235 a week.

For the first time in franchise history the Cowboys have put up back-to-back shutouts. And it's just the third time the Cowboys have had two shutouts in the same season (1970, '74).
Tennessee was the last team in the league to have consecutive shutouts, beating Cleveland (24-0) and the Cowboys, 31-0, to close the 2000 season. Pittsburgh and Baltimore also posted back-to-back shutouts that season. You have to go back to 1985 for the next shutout streak when Chicago beat the Cowboys, 44-0, and Atlanta, 36-0.
Let's see, the Ravens won Super Bowl XXV against the New York Giants. Chicago won Super Bowl XX, beating New England.
Trend?
OK, so Tennessee lost in the divisional round to the Ravens and Pittsburgh didn't make the playoffs, but who cares?
