Cowboys Stadium is a architectural marvel. But when it comes to the noise level, well...

"Texas Stadium was louder,'' receiver Patrick Crayton said. "Maybe because the tickets were cheaper so the fans could afford to get there, the ones who got crazy off the Miller Lites.''

That led to this plea from Crayton and several other Cowboys. They want owner Jerry Jones to keep the doors and roof closed for Sunday's game against Philadelphia. In the words of Crayton, the team needs to, "pump some noise in there.''

Even head coach Wade Phillips has gotten into the act. Twice this week, he's spoken about how loud the fans were in the Superdome in New Orleans and said that's what he hopes to hear Sunday at Cowboys Stadium.

"Let's see how it would be with everything closed,'' cornerback Orlando Scandrick said. "Hopefully, Mr. Jones and the front office will keep all of that closed and give us that added advantage.''

I see advantages to open and closed. Noise being one of them for closed. It would be great if the Eagles could not hear.

It is against league rules to pump noise in through loudspeakers, and teams can be sanctioned for it.

The players aren't asking for that. They want the sound from the crowd to not have a place to go.

Yeah, I mis-read that. I saw "pump some noise in there" and thought he meant pumping noise in through speakers.

Texas stadium was louder.

Its weird, the loudest game was the giants game and that was wide open.

the worst crowd of the year was carolina to me, it was flat terrible. And that game the place was completely closed up.

it is supposed to be 45 sunday. I am not sure it wouldnt be closed except that the team can sell more party passes if it is open.

its the eagles so I expect the same type of crowd as the giants. I cant imagine no matter how bad its been this year that it isnt going to be great for the eagles. the best crowd last year was the eagles monday nighter.

I thought they had said it was only to be open when the outside temp was between 60-80

I think that is what it is, but because of the fire code they can only sell like 85,000 tickets with the place all closed up.

and I cant imagine them not wanting to just open the doors and sell all those party passes.

The giants game had 105,000 and it was about 94 with about 80% humidity.

So I wouldnt put the temperature as a factor, unless its raining.

Personally, I hope they open it up and let the cold air blow through and sell as many tickets as they can!!

It might have seemed that way on TV, but we were making as much noise as possible in the section I was in (and it appeared that other sections were doing the same). I think the place is so big, the sound just does not carry well.

Plus, some fans seem to not understand that you get loud when the other team has the ball, so it might be a good thing that the sound doesn't carry.

The Giants and San Diego games where louder than any game I ever went to at Texas Stadium. I'm sure the Philly game will be equally loud.

A lot of the other games haven't been loud because the games weren't really that close -- Carolina, Atlanta, Seattle, Oakland.

They need to put it in flashing letters on the scoreboard "Make Some Noise!" when our D is on the field and "Shut up!" when our O is on the field. If there was ever a "'How a crowd should cheer at an NFL Game' for Dummies" book, it'd be for our fans.(Atleast the ones at the stadium)
