Crayton loves Glenn, but not like Romo loves Simpson
OK, so this is a little different than the last post here on the blog. Doesn't have the juice that the Tony-and-Jess rumors do either.
But it's relevant nonetheless: Don't expect Patrick Crayton to get protective of his turf (the way some receivers would) when/if Terry Glenn gets back. Why? Because the two are close.
In fact, when Crayton returned to DFW after the team's first road trip, he told Glenn things just weren't the same. Normally, the two receivers would ham it up on the flight home. Without Glenn around? Crayton fell asleep.
"It’d be like getting my big brother back," Crayton said of a possible return by Glenn. "He’s one of the (guys) that have helped me be the receiver that I am. It’s been different (without him)."
The proud DeSoto alum added that he thinks, if anything, having Glenn around will make him even more effective. Glenn hasn't been traveling with the team, and hasn't been at all the home games. So his return would give Crayton "another set of eyes and another brain to pick" between plays.
And Pat's been around long enough to know, too, what kind of stress Glenn's presence could put on defenses.
"It’d be a real big boost," Crayton said. "For one, it’d be a set of fresh legs. And it’s another playmaker for a defense to have to game-plan. Regardless of whether it’s his first game back, no defense is going to ignore that.
They’re still going to game plan and be prepared for whatever comes."
What could that be? Crayton excited to see what Jason Garrett and Co. could cook up.
With a sly smile, he said if Glenn comes back, "We’re liable to throw 50 or 60 balls a game."
