I disagree. There are quieter coaches who do a great job. You've got your Tom Coughlins and you have your Tony Dungies.

not disagreeing with the point..just the selection of coach he chose.....
It wasn't written clearly, but he wasn't suggesting that Coughlin was quiet.

This is how I read it..

There are quieter coaches who do a great job. You've got your Tom Coughlins (who are loud) and you have your Tony Dungies (who are quiet)

I may be wrong, but this is how I took it.

Yeah, seems the last real coach we had was also named Joe,and coincidentally ran pretty darn good special teams units himself. Those players WOULD have done anything for him,and I think we will see much of the same from coach D.

Oh my gosh. I'd run through a brick wall for him right now. Get me some pads.

This guy is going to be nails.

Lets be honest here, Hostile. You'd run AT a wall, and run INTO it, but at your age I don't know if you'd run THROUGH it :p:

NFLN showed a clip of DeCamillis out there today.

Unfortunately they interviewed Barbie afterward.

I wouldn't put any money on it.

Maybe Jerry put a clause in DeCamillis' contract the way he tried to do his father-in-law.

Jerry: "Now Joe. Don't milk this injury, alright. Your contract could be voided if you miss more than three days. Let's get to work. Chop! Chop!"

Seriously, this is such a huge upgrade over Bruce Read.

I'm with you Chief. *** about Reeves?

I can't believe Jerry who bends over backwards for his players and coaches, and hires sons of coaches, and is so freaking loyal-to-a-fault (like Lacewell) but would be so pisant about a guy with a huge Cowboys background.

If you were my age in the Reeves era as a player, his stats weren't great but he did more with less than anybody and always impacted games like a mofo. I remember in like 1968 or 69, regular season game against the Commanders at the Cotton Bowl, the Skins took the lead with about a minute to go. Low scoring game, we had done nothing all day. Muddy, rainy day and field. We got the kickoff and made maybe a short pass or two to Reeves or Perkins or Pettis Norman, and there was about 30 seconds on the clock, maybe we were at our own 35. Craig Morton dropped back, threw long to Dan Reeves, who made an impossible catch and run and won the game. To my mind as a kid watching the game, it was about the greatest Cowboys finish ever. Fantastic finish, but I don't think any film of this game exists.

For this game only, Jerry should have given Dan a key to Valley Ranch.

It's simple...to win it todays NFL, you need a coach with fire like Joe D.

Wade doesnt have it, but I hope/think he can get the job done with this team.

If Wade isnt here after this year, I DONT want Shanny or Holmgren. I want a young coach with fire and passion. Someone like Irvin last night on 4th and Long. Someone like Mike Tomlin.

BINGO!!! I have been thinking the exact same thing. We need to hook our wagon to a young passionate coach, get Jerry to empower him and make tough, blue collar football our organizational philosphy for the long run. Maybe Red is that guy, but they gotta let him sink or swim for an extended period of time to find out.

I wonder if Jerry feels more comfortable around the coaches that are closer to his age? He needs to branch out and entrust and empower a younger coach to lead this team for a long, competitive run. IMO, because of the salary cap and free agency, coaching and player development as well as fostering a team concept is more important than maybe any time in the league. I think New England, Pittsburgh, New york Giants and Philly are good examples of what I am talking about.

Vela wrote that Pat Watkins had 1/3 of the special teams penalties last season. He had three in the first Eagles game alone and had that 12 men on the field penalty against the Commanders. As a result, their shaky kicker got closer and made it. He probably would have missed it if Watkins doesn't get that penalty.

Most of his penalties were of the 15 yard variety according to Vela. He gets facemask penalties.

Keith Davis is gone.

Justin Rodgers is probably gone.

Bobby Carpenter is still getting interviewed.

Kevin Burnett is in San Diego.

Pat Watkins...

These guys were core special teams players. Burnett and Davis played good on special teams, and they are no longer in Dallas.

Pat Watkins' days are numbered, imo.

Micheal Hamlin is an instant upgrade, and he's never played a down in the NFL.

I know hate Pat Watkins and hope he gets cut cause I paid a lot of money to fly out to Dallas for that game.

Okay, it is official. I love this guy.

This kind of attitude is about fire. I am impressed.

This type of guy is what a head coach should look like, a leader of men with true fire in the belly. :)

Talk about heart! That is inspiring! I hope this is a sign of good things to come this season because if this doesn't fire up our team, nothing will.
Coach Wade has a whole lot of things in his belly but fire ain't 1 of em.

Yep, missing out on Reeves is my biggest regret of the offseason. My only regret, really. Other than that, I think it's been about perfect.
