DeMarcus Ware does not practice

DeMarcus Ware was on the practice field but he did not participate in the workout, according to the Cowboys' practice report.

Ware worked out on the side with associate athletic trainer Britt Brown and strength coach. The Cowboys do not have to list a game status until Friday but it's likely that Ware will be listed as questionable.

Several players expressed hope that Ware would be able to play Saturday against the Saints less than a week after he was carted off the field with a neck injury.

"When I saw him strapped to the cart I thought there was no chance he could play this week but he said he feels pretty well," linebacker Anthony Spencer said. "We're just going to see how he feels on game day. It would be a huge boost to us on defense even if he's not 100 percent he can still be effective for us. If he can be out there, he'll be out there."

Romo's advice for DeMarcus Ware

David Moore/Reporter Bio | E-mail | News tips

DeMarcus Ware and Tony Romo had a brief chat Thursday.

What did Romo tell the Pro Bowl linebacker?

"From the sound of things, he's improving,'' Romo said. "I told him, you've got to do the right thing for your health...

"But you're going to play.''

Romo, 4 TD's, two to Austin one to Witten and another to Choice.

We win 41-30.

This is a playoff game and this team needs to treat the next 3 games as such. We lose Saturday and it's all over but the crying.

We need Ware even if he's only 60%, even then he's still better than most pass rushers. He's a warrior, he's been playing hurt all year, and there really is no tomorrow if we lose.

I'm pumped because I think we have a shot to shock the world, and that is exactly the type of win that can catapult a team into and through the tournament.

Not a bad prediction, Romo is due for a big touchdown day sometime soon.

I'm going all the way out on the thinnest of limbs.

I say we blow the Saints out on Saturday.

Well he says he feels better than he did earlier in the year when the same injury occured, so why not play?

dayyyumm. Blow out!?

I can't even go with ya on that one.

We'll win though, with a last minute TD drive by Romo.

Ware needs to sit. I dont want to see him in uniform on Saturday. This isnt some leg or arm injury. We are talking about his neck, his spine. He needs to let it completely heal before he comes back.

Saturday's game, no matter how important it is for the team....is a distant second to Ware's health.

Heck no way thats going to happen. Its not even Thinnest of Limbs, thats just air out there and no limbs for that one.

I don't see a win at all, but if they did, it will be close one at best, nothing more than a TD win at best. But I just don't see it, no matter what the team is saying or coach is saying. But it won't be end of season or playoff chances either though. But lose to Skins, its end of playoff chance.

In the grand scheme of things, football isn't the most important thing in the world.

Ware must examine every single bit of medical advice made available to him before deciding to play. Risking life-long permanent injury is neither worth the millions tied to his contract nor the admiration of his teammates and fans.

What should happen is for his team to dig deep down, find the intestinal fortitude and gut out a win in his absence. At times, inspiration comes not from those who always can, but from those who sometimes cannot. If necessary, this game should be one of those times.
