Ellis takes next step

OLB Greg Ellis is practicing in pads for the first time since injuring his Achilles tendon last year. That's a sign that all went well after his limited participation in yesterday's practice.
CB Terence Newman is also practicing again. He wasn't working with the starters in the 30 minutes the media was allowed to watch.

Glenn has surgery, hopes to play this season

WR Terry Glenn had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee this morning and hopes to return this season, Cowboys spokesman Rich Dalrymple said.
Glenn elected to have the knee scoped for the second time in the last two months instead of having micro-fracture surgery, which would have eliminated any chance of him playing this season.
"There's no timetable as to when, but with this procedure, they feel like he has a chance to come back and make a run at playing this season," Dalyrymple said.
More to come on this story.

Mat McBriar needs your help!

Mat McBriar is usually a jolly fellow, but the world's best punter had a worried look on his face in the locker room this morning.
McBriar is down to one Nike Vapor K, and the model has been discontinued. He was examining Nike's newest soccer cleat, which looks real funky but might not be conducive to booming 60-yard punts.
Please reply if you can ship McBriar a size-9 1/2 Nike Vapor K for his right foot. Don't worry about the left. "Any old shoe will do on the left foot," said McBriar, who wears an 11 1/2 in his street shoes but believes he packs more power by crushing his toes on game days.

Amen on Ellis coming back! We need all the pass rush we can get!

I have serious doubts Ellis will be effective at all, actually I think he will be a liability. Hope he proves me wrong though.

from the article on DC.com
Ellis ran through individual drills with the linebackers, but is lining up with the first-team unit.

geez 4 sizes too small.... 11.5 to 9.5. Yikes!!!

I wore a half size smaller for football(thought it made me lighter and protected my ankles better) and man it smarted when someone stepped on my foot, lol.

Not sure I agree with Glenn's decision or the logic in it...Seems like the smarter thing was to do what was better longterm for the knee...I think we would've been fine at WR.

Well we all need to pray for Glenn's health outside of football because the guy is sacrificing for the good of the team... I pray he'll be able to play but also that he WON'T encounter future problems!

The last time GLenn had a shot at a SB, he was suspended.

With all his knee problems, this is probably his last year, therefore his last chance at a SB.

He's not worried about the team, he wants to get a ring.

Very true, he will have a life outside of football. And I hope he can enjoy it with as little pain as possible.

There are no guarantees that microfracture surgery fixes Glenn's knee to the point that he won't have problems in the future. At this point no matter which procedure he had he probably is going to end up with future knee problems somewhere down the line in his life.

I love what Ellis does on the field. Absolutely love it. I love having him out there.

I liked what he has brought to the team off-the-field as well, up until the last couple of years when he started complaining in the off-season. But I still loved what he brought to the team on the playing and practice field.

But I've already moved on in my mind. I've already closed the book on him. I've already analytically considered his career over. I never thought he would come back. And I have real questions of, if he does try to make a comeback, whether he will get quickly re-injured or be ineffective. I'm fine with going with Spencer at OLB. I consider that the Cowboys of the future and the now with Spencer at SOLB.

If Ellis does the unexpected and makes an effective return to the team, I will be very happy and my expectations for this team will soar. But I'm not expecting anything from him. If he fails to make a comeback, I still feel good about this team.

Ellis is a luxury right now, not a need.

Long term? What long term? TG is ancient. I'd try and bring him back, myself.
