What makes you think he didn't? He was playing well (better than Hambrick at the very least) before his injuries. If not for his shoulder injury, he probably is the first back to break 20K.

What impressed you? Was it the 3.3 YPC there, or the shoulder injury? He played a full season after the shoulder injury and was let go in 2004. I like Emmitt, but he played for two years after he was realistically no longer an impact player.

Come again? He didn't create any issues? That's the reason he was cut. All the issues he created questioning Romo & Garrett.
Exactly why was that an issue?

In all fairness, Emmitt also thought he had a few years left in the tank when he went to AZ.
In all fairness, I never saw Emmitt explode for 4 TDs in a game in his mid-30s.

If Emmitt's opposed to the move, that ought to solidify it in everyone's mind that Jones - for once - did the right thing.

Actually I believe the reason he was cut was because the media made a big to do about much of nothing, following and reporting on TO's every move, good or bad, which in turn caused distractions.

I still don't see where Owens really did anything to get cut. He questioned Garrett, but so did Romo and others.

The Cowboys organization already had a rep for getting bad press from the media, who are trying to create drama for their own ratings. Combine that with Owens who gets much of the same, and you have a recipe for disaster. If we were winning superbowls, then none of that would matter. But since we were not, it probably was the right move for the betterment of the organization to remove those distractions created by the media.

Since our image is now "clean" there really isn't anything for the media to harp on and distract the team. But I bet they will try hard to do so anyway.

Which means what?

As far as Emmitt's "explosiveness"

I am not worried one bit about "who will be explosive".

Miami damn sure doesn't have an explosive WR. The barely have a QB.

Tennessee wouldn't have anything that resembles an explosive WR if you combined their best two WRs.

Philly didn't have it. They have a few WRs who can make explosive plays but nothing that anyone in the league would consider world beating.

Berrian can make some plays but Minny doesn't have a QB.

Point is, teams don't need anyone to be "explosive". Those 4 teams were in the playoffs and they didn't have a TO. They didn't have anything close. They also didn't have anything close to the QB that Dallas has. McNabb is pretty close but not there.

Dallas has all they need. If Wade gets the D bangin on all cylinders, Dallas will have much more than they need.

Between the stable of RBs and Witten, I just don't see WR as an absolute MUST for this team.

Keep your "explosive", Emmitt. I'll take a three-headed rushing attack and a TE that can pretty much beat his man every down. No need for explosive when you can control the clock the way Dallas should be able to.

"I don't know if he was a scapegoat or whatever it was, but I tell you what, he was a talent. He was a talent, and he didn't get in any trouble, didn't create any issues. Whenever he had the opportunity to make plays, he pretty much made them. He may have said some things at times that was kind of stupid, but we all do that.
Priceless :lmao2:

Those teams had a QB who could finish games and come through in the clutch.

1. Emmitt is right, everybody has said something stupid before. I dont get what so funny about that comment. Grow up

2. All you Longhorn fans or whoever it was that was riding on Roys jock before he became a Cowboy, try to know a little something about football. Just because you are 6'3 and can run and catch a few passes doesn't make you a number 1 reciever. He was always a piece of trash and this year wont change. I remember people saying they would rather have Roy than Steve Smith. LMAO:lmao:

I am a hugeeeeeeeeeeeeeee TO fan. That doesn't change the fact that Roy Williams is trash. I cant believe Jerry Jones got him without keeping TO. I mean i would be fine keeping Roy as a number 2 reciever, but number 1? WOW

I'm not sure we should have either, but I'll be damned if I am going to keep looking backwards and wondering if we screwed up because it can't be reversed and it is a complete waste of time to talk about.

Besides, I am glad he is gone.

Ditto, even though I'd go so far as to say I'm near certain it was a bad move. But who cares at this point?

It's done.
