Marcellus Wiley made the argument on ESPN's NFL Live today that Jerry Jones' GM gaffes are a much bigger problem for the Cowboys than team chemistry.

Wiley listed a handful of big-name acquisitions that were busts for Jerry, including Pacman Jones, Tank Johnson, Eddie George ... and himself.

"I didn't have anything left in the tank," Wiley said, "and he gave me a lot of money."

Trey Wingo chimed in with a "Cha-ching!" at this point.

The Cowboys signed Wiley to a four-year, $16 million contract in 2004, although the 2001 Pro Bowler's production dropped drastically the previous two seasons in San Diego. Wiley didn't see all that money, since he was cut after one season with the Cowboys. But he did cash a $4.5 million signing bonus ($1.5 million per sack in Dallas).

I wonder if Jerry Jones could take legal action now against Marcellus Wiley for saying what he did. He basically admits "nonperformance" for the value of his contract. Either way, Marcellus Wiley should be added to the Cowboy Chris list. What a jerk.

How moronic.

If you look at the contract that those players received then there's no way that you can call them "busts".

Eddie George: 1 year for $1.5 million
Pac: We paid him $700k for 9 games
Tank: Base salaries of $510,000 and $605,000

All of those moves were low investment, medium to high upside. It would be like drafting a player in the 6th round, having him not pan out, and then calling him a bust. Just plain dumb.

GOtta give the guy props for admitting he was a bust. At the time he was thought to be a reasonably priced FA to upgrade Ekubust. As it turned out we would have been better of keeping Ekubust. On the other hand, his failure strengthened BP's hand when the decision came down to go to the 3-4.

so nice for wiley to chime in...talk about a piece of overrated trash.

that dude there.... among countless others that jerry has brought us in years past proves my devotion to this team.

sadly..my years are running short and i will love this team anyway no matter what that a -hole does... because my love for this team is genuine.

The thing is Wiley is absolutely right - he took Jones' money and many others have done the same only to "pack it in". Dallas needs a proper GM.

Makes no sense. His examples are a bunch of guys signed to short, cheap contracts. Low risk high reward except for the piece of crap Wiley, who openly admits he is a piece of crap.

If you JJ haters want to rant on JJ being an idiot dont jump on this train. It makes you look silly because these signings are not the sign of a bad GM, except of course for the piece of crap Wiley. You are obviously just pushing your agenda.

What an idiot.

First of all, he should be counting his lucky stars that Jerry believed in him and paid him for at least one season. Shut your mouth and appreciate what you got, why badmouth a guy who paid you very well and you screwed him over!?

So annoying, what a piece of dirt.

Because as a media member, his allegiance to the Cowboys (or any other team) should be gone. His job is to call it how he sees it, regardless of the "target".

If he "shuts his mouth" because of a personal affinity for Jerry Jones or the Cowboys, he's not doing his job.

Then he'd be stealing money from ESPN. :)

If he had nothing in the tank why didn't he say so?

But I agree, you don't bring in players like Tank, Pacman, and TO.
