After suffering a strained knee on his 40-yard run in the third quarter, Felix Jones will undergo an MRI today at Valley Ranch.

It is standard fare for something like this and it's the benefit of having an MRI facility on campus, so to speak.

Jones was fitted for a brace during the game and missed the next three plays of what turned out to be a field-goal drive. He returned for the next two plays of the following series - a pass to Roy Williams and a 10-yard run by Tashard Choice out of the Razorback formation - but did not get another carry.

Jones finished with 94 yards on eight carries before being forced to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines. There did not seem to be too much concern about the injury last night and we'll see what the MRI results are. Wade Phillips is scheduled to meet with the media at 3 p.m. so hopefully he will have those results by then.

Jacques Taylor wrote about Jones' health in Sunday's paper. Is it time to wonder if he can be more than a change-of-pace back? He had the hamstring injury last year (and subsequent toe injury during rehab) and strained his quadriceps in the season opener.

The Cowboys are hopeful Marion Barber will be able to return this week against Denver after missing Monday's game because of a left quadriceps injury. After the game Phillips said Barber was "close" but the decision to sit him was a medical one.

You have to wonder if the injury-prone label will start to get mentioned?

Wait, I guess I just did.

I hope it's not a pattern.

There's no denying his amazing talent and he's a home-run threat every time he touches the ball.

And I drafted him in both fantasy football leagues!

That doesn't really mean much. Different people handle pain differently. Also, it depends on the sevarity of the injury. It could be a partial tear or it could be a complete tear. I think Terrell Davis played with a tear his whole career. Everybody is different. No real way to tell until the MRI is taken and that normally takes 24 to 48 hours depending on how long the swelling takes to go down.

Telling you right now, you want to see this season go to hell in a hand basket all we need is to lose our ONLY speed thread and dynamic player in Jones for any extended length of time.

Hoepfully its not season ending. We could do without him for a few games if Barber and Choice are healthy, but losing him for the season would be really bad.

He's clearly one of the most dangerous RB's in the league.

I find it hard to believe that he would have come back in and played another 2 snaps if it was that serious. MRIs can be precautionary also.

Baylor QB came back in this past Sat. and played with a torn ACL. You never know...just keep the fingers crossed.

So dangerous in fact, that he is dangerous to himself.

When he does come back, I would hope that he is kept off the kick return unit. Miles is good for about 25 yards per return. I don't think we need a gamebreaker at kick returns at this time.

I think the problem is most of the tackles against him are from behind while he is trying to pull away. They keep going after his legs to trip him up while most runningbacks take most of their hits up high closer to the line of scrimmage.

My god. What kind of painkiller did they pump him full of for him to do that?

I often wonder what kinds of medications and shots hurt players receive...Aaron Rodgers played through a nasty shoulder injury last year and the commentators would occasionally comment on the painkillers they were doping him up with before the game.

If we could get 4 seasons out of Felix like Denver got from Davis in 95-96-97-98, I'd be over the top. Right now, I'd be happy if Felix could just avoid injury.
