Jerry Jones expects his brand new, billion-plus-dollar football palace to motivate the Cowboys. He has used terms like "play to the level of that stadium."
While architecture as inspiration seems like a stretch for NFL players, at least one member of the Giants is giddy to play in the first regular-season game at Jerry World.
"I'm really, really, really excited for the opportunity to be able to open up their new stadium and play against them," Brandon Jacobs said, per the New Jersey Star-Ledger. "I'm glad they picked us. I guess it says something about them playing a certain team I guess they thought were the perfect ones to go in there and get their first win (against)."
Jacobs, who hates the Cowboys "with a bloody passion," hinted that the Cowboys saw the Giants as a homecoming date of sorts. That obviously isn't the case, and the hunch here is that the television networks had more say in picking the Cowboys' first home foe than Jerry did.
But Jacobs' statement is similar to rallying cries heard from the Ravens before and after the Texas Stadium finale, which isn't a fond memory around Valley Ranch.
