LOUIS DeLUCA / DMN

Ain't the Internet great? I found Jon Kitna's interview with a Seattle radio station from January, days after he completely humilated the Cowboys' defense by throwing four TD passes in the 3-13 Lions' season-ending win.

Kitna, who started his career in Seattle, offered Seahawks fans a scouting report of the Cowboys' defense. And he wasn't kind, although he mentioned that he should be careful, since the Cowboys were on the Lions' schedule again this season.

The Cowboys talk begins about two minutes into the interview. Here are the quotes I'll be sensationalizing all week:
*"We didn't feel like their interior linebackers were very effective. We hit backs out of the backfield, checking the ball down. Usually, you'll check the ball down for five, six yards, and it was going for 10, 15, 20 yards sometimes on checkdowns."

*"They're not going to get a lot of pressure on the quarterback. When they get pressure on the quarterback, it's going to be when the quarterback is in a seven-step mode and waiting on things downfield."

*"There were some times that we were watching on film before we played Dallas that we really felt like No. 56, some times I don’t know that he knew where he was at."

*"We definitely felt like Terence Newman was the best corner that they had, so we knew we needed to be careful with him. But even with him, I mean, he's not Marcus Trufant in my opinion. He doesn't have that kind of ability. It wasn't like you were scared to throw at him, I guess."

Marcus Trufant? Kitna cannot be serious. Hopefully no one says anything all week and simply beheads kitna when the game comes. You aren't going to tell me that Brady James isn't going to be amped up.

If the Cowboys win, Detroit cannot win 10 games. I would like to see the team be a part of ending that guys prediction a month early.

Let's play the game first. We haven't won anything yet, and we've always had problems playing in Detroit.

Heck, I still have nightmares of Erik Hipple running circles around our D.

If he's gonna claim he "found" it, he might as well credit either theebs or the reader who let him know this was out there.

Nice job, theebs. :)

No we haven't. After the 1991 season when the 'Boys lost in the playoffs in Detroit, they came back the next year to blow them out 37 - 3.

...the fact that we haven't accomplished anything other than becoming the second team in the league to clinch a playoff spot doesn't mean Kitna is any smarter for mouthing off like this. He's a moron, and should learn to keep his mouth shut...he hasn't accomplished anything either. I have little to no fear of the detroit lions, and relish this opportunity to show this loudmouth how different of a team we are in '07.

I''m not normally one for predictions, but I see him getting pummeled by our defense. I'm thinking 6 sacks. Sure, he'll dink and dunk us to death like we allow all teams to do, but they won't have much to show for it, and his 275 yards passing will be of little consolation after he slings 2 interceptions in the second half and we win by 21.

I want to see him get planted at least 6 times. Throw at least 4 picks- and have at least 2 of them run back all the way.

I don't remember Eric Hipple doing it (was it in 1981 or 1985?), but I do remember Erik Kramer doing in the 1991 playoffs (29/38 for 348, 3 TD's, 0 INT's)

I'll admit it, I want the Cowboys to humiliate the Lions in this game. There are several reasons, I will mention the biggest one last.

The all time series is 10-9 in Dallas' favor. I do not want to be tied with this team. This year we handled business against the Rams, Vikings, Bills, and Packers. All of them were teams either tied with Dallas in the all time series, or the series was within one game of each other either way. We were 1 game behind the Rams and Vikings, tied with the Packers, and 1 game ahead of the Bills and the Lions. I want to continue to handle our business in these matchups.

Two of the worst bets on football I've ever lost were to a Lions fan. One time I had to put a Lions bumper sticker on my car for a month. The other time I had to get the Lions logo shaved into the side of my head for a day. I've never recovered from the pissed off feelings of losing those bets even though 1991 was a long time ago.

Jon Kitna and especially Mike Furrey. Losing to that piece of crap football team was bad enough. Them rubbing it in was too much. Kitna's comments were bad enough. Furrey throwing a football into one of the stadium stars and breaking it, absolutely drove me to deep seated anger against him. I hope someone rings his bell and that they shut Kitna's mouth but good.

Not always - does Joey Harrington with 0.0 QB rating ring a bell? :laugh2:

Was that the game when Quincy Carter, yes Quincy Carter, threw 3 touchdown passes to Terry Glenn? It would've been 4 TDs if Antonio Bryant hadn't dropped one in the end zone. We have had a few good games at Detroit. I remember one year when we had Herschel Walker and Tony Dorsett playing together. We absolutely clobbered the Lions at the old Silverdome. I hope this is one of our every-now-and-then blowouts against them.
