We've had a swell time in Oxnard and all, but I must say that I expected a much wilder, wackier scene out here.
The Hard Knocks debut might have some surprises for us, but it's really been a pretty laidback yet businesslike scene around these parts.
Oh, Jerry had a grand opening ceremony with cheerleaders shaking what their mamas gave 'em while racy rap songs blared over the loudspeakers. But it's been basically a controversy-free camp so far. Patrick Crayton's trash talk about Green Bay QB Aaron Rodgers, which was tame by his standards, is a minor exception.
We've had a decent amount of drama, but it's all been good, old-fashioned football fun. T.O. vs. Pacman tops the list, and the two headliners in those duels have been on their best behavior. The focus has been squarely on what's happening on the field.
Sure, the celebrity QB's famous gal pal made an appearance in Oxnard. But it's really stretching it to consider Tony Romo taking his lady to dinner a distraction. If anything, the happy couple deserves credit for not creating a scene by having her show up to practice, although several players' better halves are here.
Yep, we don't have a whole lot to sensationalize on this here blog. Oh, well, reckon we'll just have to settle for covering a Super Bowl contender.
